Cas gripped the sides of his jeans and he followed Dean into what he assumed was a frat house. He stepped inside and the first thing that grabbed the boys was the smell. Booze, everywhere. Dean seemed slightly less bothered than Cas, but his nose still scrunched up.

"It's okay. We can still turn this around." Cas nodded but kept a firm grip on his pants as he followed Dean deeper into the party. After a few minutes of awkwardly standing in the corner watching Dean from afar, Castiel was greeting by a skinny blonde who was obviously drunk.

"Heyyy you..." she slurred, petting Cas' shoulder. "Wanna come back to my place?" Cas got very uncomfortable very fast. "N...no thank you."

Despite him trying to push her away, the girl was climbing all over him and Castiel was trying his best to keep calm.

"Hey! Get the hell away from her!" Castiel began to panic as he saw a tall buff man make his way over to where he was standing in the corner looking very uncomfortable. "I... I wasn't doing anything! I was just... she came up to me and-"

"Did I ask you what happened?"

Castiel shrunk into the wall, trying to disappear. "I didn't mean anything by it... please I don't want any trouble."

"Dude Imma bust your freaking nose right now." He pulled his fist back and Cas braced for impact but it didn't come. He cracked his eyes open and saw a hand holding his fist back. "Peter Trayloit? Do you really think you can go around beating up my friends?"

Dean's voice was loud over the music and Castiel couldn't help but let relief flood over him. "Winchester? He's one of yours?" Peter's voice started shaking slightly. "Now tell your girl to either not get that wasted, or stay away from him you hear me?" Peter nodded and grabbed the girl by her elbow, pulling her away.

"You okay Novak?" Cas started shaking a little bit. "Can we go?" Dean nodded and turned his head. "Let me just grab our coats. Then we can leave." Cas nodded and sunk back into the wall and waited for Dean to come back.

"You okay dude?" Cas looked up and saw a slightly shorter girl with blazing red hair staring at him with slight worry in her dull green eyes. "Oh... I'm just leaving as soon as my friend gets back with our coats."

She smiled. "Don't worry... I'm not drunk or trying to have sex. You just look really uncomfortable and I'm trying to make sure you don't spontaneously combust." Castiel smiled nervously. "Hi. I'm Charlie."

She stuck out her hand and Cas took it shakily. "Hi... I'm Castiel... Castiel Novak." Her eyes widened. "You Dean's roommate?" Cas nodded "do you know him?" he asked, hoping to make a second friend.

"Do I know him? Dude we grew up together. Where is he?" Cas looked a little bit behind Charlie and pointed. "Right here," Dean said, a huge smile on his face. "Cas you ready to leave?" Cas nodded his head. "You can stay if you want Dean. I can take Castiel to get ice cream and drop him off at your place. Sound good?"

"That would be highly appreciated. Thank you." Cas said, breathlessly. Dean nodded. "Okay. Have fun you two." Charlie took Castiel by the hand and pulled him out the door, only shoving a few people on the way out.

Once they got outside, the cold air hit Castiel's face and he breathed in deeply. Charlie gave him all the time he needed. "You feeling better?" She asked, glaring at someone who shot Cas a look.

Castiel nodded and looked at her. "Yes. Thank you."
"Sorry, dude. The car is kinda a long walk." Castiel nodded and followed her into a valley. "You aren't going to kill me are you?" Charlie threw her hand over her mouth and giggled. "Really Cas?" his lips lifted into a weak smile.

"Sorry. I'm paranoid." she nodded. "I get it. You want ice cream or you want me to drop you back off?" Cas looked down and a feeling of guilt washed over him. "Woah... Cas you okay? Lactose intolerant?"

He shook his head and looked at Charlie. "No my sister Naomi... she doesn't allow me to take breaks or eat sweet food. I just feel like... she wouldn't be proud of me... not only that but, she would be so disappointed with me and I just-"

"Cas. Look at me." when he just stared at his feet, she put her hands on his shoulders. "I don't know what happened or who Naomi is, but it doesn't matter. You need to know that your sister cannot control you or what you do. You deserve a break, and school hasn't even started yet." Cas nodded and put his hands on his shoulder on top of Charlie's.

"Okay..." he took a shaky breath before he continued. "Let's go get ice cream." Charlie smiled shakily as she slipped her hand into Cas' and kept walking further down the alley. "I parked through here so I wouldn't have any trouble getting out." Castiel nodded but he wasn't really listening. He was too busy focusing on getting out of the alley.

The second he stepped out, he was greeted by an orange lamp swarming with flies. Cas cringed as one of them came near him. "Don't like bugs?" Cas shook his head as Charlie pulled him into her car.

"To the creamery!" she shouted with a gleam in her eyes that couldn't help but make Cas pretty excited for the dairy filled treat.

"How is it?" Charlie asked, licking her salted caramel ice cream. Castiel was too busy licking his own cone. Plain vanilla. When he asked for his order, Charlie just shrugged. One step at a time she thought.

"I've never had anything so... amazing!" he stared at Charlie who began to laugh so hard snorts began to escape her nose. "Nice mustache!" she giggled, pointing at his upper lip. He grabbed a napkin and wiped off the ice cream collecting up there.

"I can't believe you've never had ice cream before."

Her face fell and she stared at him. "What? Did I do something wrong? Am I not eating correctly?" she shook her head but kept staring. "My gay-dar is beeping. I'm debating between bi or pan." Cas' eyes widened at the new words.

"What?" she looked him up and down again and a few uncomfortable seconds passed before she nodded. "Pan. Dean is bi." Castiel's face twisted into confusion and Charlie giggled again.

"I'm talking about being GAY Cas. Hold on, let me help you out." She got up and came back within a few seconds with a small container filled with colors. "These are rainbow sprinkles. That cone is your sexuality." she dumped all of the rainbow sprinkles on his cone and nodded.

"Boom. Gayness." she smiled as Castiel hesitantly took a lick, his whole mouth now hidden by the rainbow. "Awww! My little rainbow sprinkle!" she squealed and clapped her hands. "It's finally happening! I need your help."

Her face fell again and she became deadly serious. "Well... I can't think of any way to repay for helping me at the party so if this is it then I would be happy to help but... how do you know I'm gay? I don't even know I'm gay..." Charlie smiled.

"Everyone has a gay-dar. It's like a radar but it senses gay people. Mine is a lot better than most, and not only because I'm gay, but also because it has never failed me before." Cas nodded. "So... I'm gay?"

The blush that erupted from his neck matched Charlie's hair. "I... I can't be gay... I have to be straight... that... why do you get to decide if I'm gay or not?" he started to panic. "Calm down my little sprinkle! I'm not decided for you. Sexuality isn't something you choose. It just happens. Why are you freaking out so much about being gay?"

Cas mumbled something under his breath but Charlie didn't hear. "What'd you say my sprinkle?"
"Naomi. She is very... religious to say the least and... homosexuality isn't the Lord's way..." his heart started to beat louder. He could hear his blood pumping. He looked back up at Charlie.

"You've never been wrong about this before?" Charlie thought about it and for the first time in her life, lied about something important. "No, I could be wrong."
