Castiel couldn't help the smile that crept onto his mouth when he saw Charlie walk out of the store with a bag bigger than her. "Charlie..." he started when she slid into the front seat of his car. Cas almost forgot that Dean was sleeping in the back except for the loud snore that came after.
"Hey sprinkle?" Cas snapped back to attention looking over at Charlie while putting his seatbelt on. "Yes, Charlie?" she clicked her belt into place and pushed her hair back before continuing. "Is there anything you want to tell me before the bear wakes up?"
Castiel felt his heart jump in his chest. How did she find out?
"Well... you see... I... the thing is,"
"Cas." Charlie interrupted, "I have never heard you stutter this much. What is it?"
"Dean." the raven-haired boy turned the car on and started driving before she could ask anything. "What about him?"
"What was his childhood like?" Cas couldn't help the question that erupted from his mouth.Since he couldn't look away from the road, he just had to imagine Charlie's eyes going wide. "Um... it was pretty messed up... he still has some lingering problems from it but... there were some okay parts. And hey, who knows? Maybe if you tell him a little about yourself, he'd tell you a little about himself."
Castiel tried to swallow the lump that was forming in his throat. "He really cares about you sprinkle. That doesn't happen often. Setting aside Dean's trust issues and his abandonment problem, he's not someone who makes friends easily."
"But... he's so popular... people obviously like him." Charlie shook her head and her curls bounced along with her. "People like him yeah... sure they do. The problem is, he doesn't like people."
Castiel took a few minutes before responding. "Why does he like me? Seriously, the most interesting thing about me is that I have four therapists." Charlie smiled at the boy. "You're fun, you care about people, you can read people really really well."
"Cas... I know that there's something else you want to tell me... it's about Dean isn't it?"
Castiel shook his head, turning into the parking lot of his school. "You say I'm the one that reads people." he parked right by his dorm and looked over at Dean. "Just wait, you'll see."
Silence passed before it happened. Dean's lips slightly parted, and a whisper escaping his lips. "Cas..."
Charlie sucked in a breath and got out of the car. "He's... dreaming about you? How many times has this happened?"
Castiel shrugged. "A few. Listen let's go have this party, and maybe talk to Dean about it."
At the mention of his name, Dean sat up. "Party time?" he asked wiping the drool off his mouth. "Yup. C'mon Bitch, let's go have a gay ass party." Dean snorted before making his remark. "Every party with you is a gay party, Charlie."
Charlie nodded. "Thank you." they walked into the dorm and Charlie's eyes wandered to the trash can. "Cas did somebody use your coat as a cum rag?" Dean choked on his coffee. "Charlie! I was trying to keep him innocent!"
Cas just stood, sputtering and having so many questions of his unanswered. "Can uh... can we just eat some rainbow stuff." Charlie looked at Dean and raised an eyebrow. Dean chucked his pillow at her as hard as she could. She caught it easily and held it over Cas' jacket, her eyebrows raised as if saying try me.
"You wouldn't." Dean sneered, narrowing his eyes. Castiel could only watch in awe, waiting for this scene to play out. "Bet." she dropped it before catching it right as it was about to land on the tainted coat.
"Bitch!" he cried. "Jerk..." she laughed in between tears. "Okay." Dean sighed. "You got me." he nodded and fell onto the couch. "Let's eat."
The rest of the day was fun for Cas. He tried a variety of rainbow things and some of them he really enjoyed. "So, Dean, Sprinkle, I'm going to a gay bar tonight with a couple of friends. We have our own private room. Either of you interested?" Dean nodded. "I'm down." Cas swallowed down the nervous energy. He didn't really want to go, but he also really didn't want to be left alone.
"Sure but we uh... we have classes tomorrow."
"Oh!" Charlie cried making Cas jump. "Sorry, but I forgot to tell you something. Every class you have is either with me or Dean." Cas smiled. "Good."
"And our first class isn't even until noon. We'll have plenty of time." Dean interjected."Okay." Cas nodded. "In that case, I am also 'down'." Charlie smiled before she squealed. "Yay! Get dressed, we'll go."
"Hold on, I have to run to the store real quick. I'll be back. Charlie, watch Cas... Cas, watch Charlie." Cas nodded as Dean stood up, grabbed his keys, and jogged out of the dorm.
"Okay! Go get into your party clothes! Nothing major, just simple. Like, look what I'm wearing." Cas looked, she was wearing black jeans a nice cashmere sweater. "Got it." He jumped up and went to look at his clothes.
He found a black pair of nice-ish pants and a white button down. He threw them on and went out to Charlie, spreading his arms out and spinning in a circle. "Looks good sprinkle."
"Welcome back Dean!" Charlie turned towards the door right as it was opening. "Cas hey! I uh... now that you lost your jacket so I... dug this one up for you." Cas took the box and opened it, a beautiful tan trench coat falling out. "Wow, Dean you bought this for me?"
"Nah, I just had it lying around and I thought-"
"Don't forget to take the new tags off Sprinkle," Charlie said with a smirk."Thank you Dean; I really do appreciate it." Dean just nodded. "Are we going to get drunk or...?"
Charlie nodded.
"Yup. Let's go get turnt."
"Or just... have fun," Cas suggested with a shrug, putting on his new favorite jacket.
