On returning home the next day, Liam's anxiety was heightened as he wasn't quite sure what he was returning home to. On the one hand, he hoped his parents had up and left as they sometimes do as it would mean he wouldn't have to talk to them and they wouldn't cause a scene. However, on the other hand he wanted them to be at the house so they could apologise to the kids and could answer some of Liam's questions.
He battled these conflicted feelings the whole way from Olivia's house to his own.
Olivia had offered to accompany him for moral support, but he insisted that she stayed with her dad as this was something Liam had to do on his own.
Pulling into the drive, he saw his parents' assistant's car parked out front, and the assistant himself was carting suitcases out from the house.
After instructing the children to stay in the car, Liam himself exited and approached the man.
"What's going on Richard? Are my parents leaving again?" Liam asked as Richard loaded the cases into the trunk of the car."
"They certainly are sir, another business meeting I was told."
Liam shook his head partially in disbelief, but then again he had half expected his parents to be gone before they had arrived, so either his parents were waiting to say goodbye or Liam had gotten home too quick for them to leave without a trace.
He thanked Richard and ran inside to see his parents instructing the house keeper (who only showed up when Karen and Geoff were there) of what she was to do when they were away.
"Liam!" His mother gasped in surprise. "We thought you wouldn't be back for at least another hour."
'So they wanted to get away before I was back.' Liam thought but kept it to himself as he had business to address with his mother.
"I need you to sign a few forms." Liam stated, bringing the folder out from under his arm, and holding it out to his mother. All the legal things had been completed, double checked and triple checked and all he needed now was two signatures where he had indicated. He had made it idiot proof.
"What for? You know I just don't sign any old form. I could be signing my life away." His mother chuckled.
'Some parents would consider this signing their life away.' Liam mentally rolled his eyes but outwardly smiled.
"Just so I can take the boys out of the country on holiday. To be honest, it's the least you could do." Liam continued to smile sweetly.
The forms were to pass temporary legal guardianship of the four boys onto him, so that he could take the four minors out of the country without being harassed by immigration and border control.
Karen sighed and slowly nodded her head. She took out her crystal infused pen and signed where Liam had indicated.
"Where are you taking them?" She asked, attempting to start a conversation and to try and seem like she actually gave a toss about the boys.
"Probably Spain. Either that or Portugal, we'll see. I just want to take them somewhere nice and warm where they can relax and relieve their stress."
"That sounds lovely. And will your girlfriend be joining you?" Karen asked, using 'girlfriend' instead of Olivia since she had conveniently forgotten the girl's name.
"Yes, Olivia and I are a team and the boys are used to the schedule and routine we have for them. They're all extremely fond of her already." Liam emphasised.
