Those Green Eyes

Chapter Ten

Billie:

"I have some news.." I played with my guitar strings nervously. I made a promise to Melanie that before getting to know Lilly I would explain the news to my friends and family first. I decided to start with the guys.

"Does it have anything to do with your sudden heart failure?" Mike asked pissed off yet slightly joking.

"No.." I began. "Well actually yeah, kind of.." I thought about it.

"So what's going on? What did the doc say?" Tre asked curious.

"It's not about that." I again began to fiddle with my guitar.

"It's Melanie isn't it?" Mike asked.

Tre whipped his head around. "Melanie? Why would it be about her?"

I swallowed hard. "I found her." I paused. "Actually we found each other.. It wasn't even planned."

Tres eyes widened in what looked like horror. "Found her!?" I flinched as he raised his voice, I wasn't ready for such a strong reaction.

"Are you just going to keep repeating everything Tre? Let him talk for fucks sake." Mike scolded.

"She's living here in LA." My voice was uneven, I was terrified. "She's a mom now, has a little girl.." Both Mike and Tre looked at me, their gazes burning holes through my skin. "AND?" Tre asked. "And.. Her name is Lilly, she's cute ya know, really pretty. Reddish brown curls, big eyes about 9 years old." I choked up.

"Get to the point Billie.." Mike looked at me annoyed.

"Okay." I stated quietly. "Lilly is not only Melanie's daughter obviously.. but she's.. Well she's my daughter also."

The room fell silent.

Mike and Tres jaws had both fell open and were yet to shut.

Mike was the first to speak up. "I knew it! I knew it!" He screamed a huge smile now spread across his face.

"Wait a minute, knew what?" I asked confused.

"The day I went into the diner and saw Melanie a little girl ran in and hugged her, the second I looked into her eyes I knew she was yours." He laughed, proud of himself.

"You saw her?" I asked angry that he hadn't mentioned it to me.

"Yes. Yes I saw her but I had to let you figure it out on your own. It wasn't my place to say." He explained.

As disappointed as I was I had to agree with him. I nodded slowly. Tre was still yet to speak. As if we read each others minds both mike and I looked over at him. He was staring at the wall.

"Tre?" I asked concerned.

"Hm?" He looked at me.

"You okay?" I waited for his response.

"Oh yeah of course I'm okay." He laughed slightly but I knew right away it was fake. "So a little girl huh?" He looked dazed.

"Mhm. Lilly." I repeated.

"Lilly." He said still looking at me.

Mike chimed in. "Billie and Lilly!" He yelled. "Melanie named her after you didn't she?" He asked amazed as if a light had just turned on in his head.

I smiled to myself. I had never thought about it until now but he was right Lilly was the feminine version of Billie.. I laughed happily. "Yeah maybe she did."

One down one to go. My next stop would be Adrienne and the boys.
