I know I know another authors note - boring.
So here's the thing! I think some of you may be confused and it's totally not your fault, it's mine.
To start, Tre and Melanie were never a thing! They never dated, they never slept together, Melanie was 100% loyal to Billie. After Melanie found out she was pregnant she wasn't sure who to turn to, Tre was her really good friend as well as Billies.
To break it down for all of you..
*Melanie finds out she's pregnant, she's scared and needs advice.
*She shows up at Tres.
*After she confesses to Tre that she is indeed pregnant he panics and thinks Green Day will never make it if this child is born.
*He gives Melanie his life savings knowing she will disappear. With this money Melanie is able to leave town and provide for herself until she finds a job.
*She never contacts Tre, he never contacts her.
*Tre is afraid of Melanie returning because he doesn't want Billie to find out that he encouraged her and helped her run away.
