Billie:

"Billie Joe.. Wake up!" A distant voice pulling me from my sleep.

"Wake up Billie!" I tossed and turned.

"Leave me alone.." I mumbled.

"You have to meet Mike and Tre at the studio.. Please wake up honey." My eyes opened to Adrienne standing above me. "Wha.. Whats going on?" I asked confused. "You were having a bad dream. You're awake now, everything's okay." She ruffled my hair. A dream? I looked around my all too familiar bedroom trying to focus my blurry vision. No concert, no Whatshername, no Melanie... Adrienne was wrong, everything was not going to be okay.

Later on at the studio:

"You're late." Mike spun around in his chair obviously annoyed with me.

"Sorry. It's been a rough afternoon." I groaned.

"Well let's get started. I have a naked woman waiting in bed for me back at home. Getting layed is way more important then getting payed.." Tre laughed to himself. Mike rolled his eyes.

"So um.. You guys remember Melanie, right? I asked. Tre raised his eyebrow at me. "Your old high school girlfriend Melanie?" A smirk now tugging at his lips. "That's the one." I cracked open a beer. "What about her?" Mike asked intrigued. "I just.. I had this dream. It was so real.." I began. "We were back in Oakland playing this show and there she was just standing in the crowd, staring at me.." I blinked, trying to remember. "And then?" Mike pushed. I glared at him. "And then.. She was running away. I jumped off stage and started chasing her. Adrienne woke me up after that." They exchanged a weird glance before looking back at me. Tre was spinning his drumstick around through the air. "Look man, she took off.. No goodbye no nothing. I know you loved her, hell even I loved her but ya just need to move on." I winced at these last two words. Move on. I have moved on! I have a wife and two little boys! How much more can I possibly move on? Mike must of noticed my reaction, he quickly chimed in. "Billie if she wanted to contact you she would've by now. The chances of you ever seeing her again.." He paused pondering his words. "Are slim to none." He finished. "Yeah. Well I guess that's just what I needed a slap back into reality.." My phone buzzed but I ignored it. "Tough love man, tough love.." Tre joked. My phone began to ring once again. Jesus fucking Christ.

"Hello!?" I answered angrily.

Nothing.

"Hellooo??" I yelled again.

Mike and Tre looked over at me.

Still nothing.

"Hmm mysterious blocked caller who breathes into the phone yet doesn't speak... What a unique and original prank, not cliché at all.." I hung up. Never thinking twice about the person on the other end.
