brendon smiled as he saw that same redness on the human's cheeks. it suited him so well.
however, brendon can't stop thinking about how troublesome dallon looked. he looked like something was bothering him. brendon knew that dallon said it didn't matter but that doesn't mean his concern won't go away for him.
"dallon? please tell me what wrong. i want help." brendon meekly asked.
"Brendon, I, uh," he pauses and he sits down. "I don't know about you but this has been bothering me for a while. Would you be okay with meeting a few of my friends?"
brendon was quite scared then. dallon's the human who hasn't tried to hurt him or take him away from his home. he's sure dallon would stop his friends if they attempted to do such a thing. but still, brendon has his skeptic thoughts about them.
"will...will they hurt me?" brendon responded.
"Oh, no, no, they just kinda believe your not real and I'm making stories up. They wanna meet you."
ah, brendon saw now. he won't blame his friends since he understood that humans aren't huge believers on creatures like himself.
"when do they want to come?" brendon questioned. he might as well bring jake with him, he could watch him from afar.
"I don't know when but I would say maybe not far from now. You don't have to meet them if you don't want to. I understand if you're afraid. I won't force you to do anything."
that touched brendon's insides as he felt all warm now. no one ever gave him that freedom to say no to something he may not like. not even the person who gave him his chest scar.
"thank you, dallon. but i want to meet them. i wanna prove them wrong!" brendon smiled.
"I'll talk to them as soon as I get home but first, you should bring your lyre next time. I'm still quite curious to learn how to play the instrument." dallon's worrisome look went away and was replaced with a much happier look.
"in-inst-ruu-ment?" brendon had trouble pronouncing that odd-sounding word for the lyre.
"Yeah, instrument! It's a word for something you play and can make sounds. Like this," dallon brought out that object that he would have taken yesterday. "This is called a ukulele! But I told you that yesterday." he giggles and brendon swore that was the most beautiful sound he had ever heard. that small laugh would give him with a lifetime of happiness.
as dallon kept talking about the instrument in his hand, brendon got lost in his features. he could listen to dallon about the craziest thing all day. he could stare at dallon's face and would fall in love with it over and over again. brendon felt safe around him. all he wanted to do was stay in a little bubble with nothing but just dallon and his arms around him.
but after all, reality reminded him to be aware and his wishes don't mean much.
