Vanessa's POV:
I awoke to the furious yells of Vince who was on the other side of the bedroom door. I slowly crept out of bed, not wanting to alert him of my eavesdropping. The closer I got to the door, the sharper his words became.
"I want my best sharpshooters on the tree line. Make sure the gates are locked. No one is coming in. I will take my Princess and keep her safe." And with that I heard his heavy footsteps come closer, causing me to get closer to the bed and lay lazily in the sheets, my eyes closed, breathing as even as could be, given the circumstance.
A few seconds later the door quietly opened and his footsteps got louder. The springs creaked under his weight as I felt his rough hand run over my visible arm. I tried to suppress my shudder but to no avail. He must have taken it a good way as his stifling heat from the closeness made me feel small and claustrophobic. His touch felt much different than Lance's. Lance's touch felt comforting and understanding, Vince's felt disturbing and merciless. Vince must not have paid heed to my rigid body since he pulled me closer to him, my body way too close to his for comfort. But if I awoke, I doubt he'd stop. While I pondered my next move, I took the time to compare his embrace, if you could call it that, to Lance's. Lance's felt like falling into a big pile of fuzzy teddy bears while Vince's felt like those teddy bears had spears in both paws.
"I know you are awake, Princess. Just figured you aren't a morning person. Neither am I, that will be perfect." He whispered, close enough that I could feel his overgrown stubble brush against the nape of my neck. At the point, the shudder that wracked my body should have given him the hint that I wasn't liking this, but no. He moved closer, the rough fabric of his jeans rubbing against my bare thighs. I hated this. I hated this so much. This damsel isn't spending more time in distress!
Lance's POV:
"Thank God you remembered high school. Let's go, I don't want her spending more time with that monster than necessary." I urged Brooklyn as she nodded her head and grabbed a handgun from Chase.
"Um, guys I don't think we need guns."
"That's what they all say. Just wear a bulletproof vest. There's one in the van trunk. We don't need you getting shot before you guys get hitched. I'll drive the first hour." Chase told me, giving me a half-smile, that didn't reach his eyes.
We all piled into the car, Chase in the driver's seat, Brooklyn beside him, Officer Chelsey and I in the back seat next to a box of files marked "Drug Possession Files."
~Hour later~
"I'm driving Chase, you are falling asleep. Go keep Lance company, Chels can come up here." Brooklyn yelled, startling us all awake. Stopping the car at a shoulder, we got off and switched around, glad for the stretch.
Once we were off and driving again, Officer Chelsey dozing off and Brooklyn blasting music, Chase nudged me gently,
"So....how's the ring look like?"
My face must have looked quite scared as he bust out laughing,
"Nah man, not yet. I expect a second date from you before you pop the question. I was talking about my ring," he said in a whisper, barely audible to the human hear.
He showed me a picture of a ring that looked just like something I imagine Brooklyn would enjoy wearing.
"She'll love it, man, more importantly, she loves you. She'll say yes. I know it." I assured him.
"I know, I hope." He said, hope and love shining in his eyes, giving away his emotions. I hope I look like that when talking about my girl.
~30 minutes before arrival~
"Make sure you go straight for her. Chels, Chase, and I will be fine. You go get your girl and my best friend." Brooklyn instructed me, giving me a severe look.
I nodded my head and donned the bulletproof vest.
It was show time.
Vanessa's POV:
Vince was getting ready in the other room while I was supposed to be wearing this tiny red dress that looked 3 sizes too small for me. Apparently, he moved up the wedding since we were going to have some interruptions. I planned on running away before going to the makeshift altar, but he had his guards accompany me everywhere. By now, I had figured out that we were at his Smith Mountain lake house. I just needed a way to get this info out to Lance and Brooklyn, but only the head guards and Vince has phones. I struggled into the dress, losing my ability to breathe normally. The girl silently walked me over to the door where a guard was ready to escort me to the lake.
I went but was not defeated yet.
An hour later, Vince appeared, dressed in a black suit that undoubtedly hid a few weapons inside. He smiled creepily towards me, before facing the small crowd of his men and servants. The right-hand man was able to stand in as a pastor, and the oldest man was beside me, ready to walk/drag me down the aisle. Of course, I'm not going to go willingly!
After the most awkward walk down the aisle possible, I stood in front of Vince, who looked ecstatic but also mentally unstable. I tried stalling as much as possible, using every trick in the book from having a coughing fit to forgetting the lines. Still, there were no wedding crashers. Tears pricked in my eyes, my brain accepting my fate, knowing I was doomed. My heart refused but didn't stand a chance. Tears ran down my face, blurring the world around me. I took a deep breath, and slowly opened my mouth, having no options.
As I spoke the first word to seal my fate, a loud bang went up from the crowd.

You all thought I was that evil! Nah, not this time...keep reading!
My eyes widened in shock as I saw a figure quite similar to Chase run in from the side gate, Brooklyn, and a police officer not too far behind. But where was Lance?
I smiled and made a run for them, but I wasn't fast enough since Vince grabbed a hold of me and slapped my face, shaking me up. His mouth displaying his hatred and an unknown emotion.
"You will finish this ceremony." He whispered, but before he could lift the barrier between us, I heard the sweetest voice I had longed for, Lance, say,
"She won't be doing anything except coming with me." As I felt his arms pick me up and run towards the outside gate. I kicked off my heels, which consequently stabbed Vince, slowing him down.
Once we were in the safety of the driveway where Chase, Brooklyn, and the officer were, Lance put me down, kissed me, and told us,
"I'll be right back. There's something I've got to do." He ran back to the gate which Vince was trying to open and pulled out a gun, aiming for Vince's chest.
He punched Vince straight in the face, blood gushing.
"That was for the first time." and then fired at Vince.
"And that was for everything else."
