Chapter 5

Shay, Aaron and Johnny planned a trip to the beach before summer ends and invited Shain and Ted. Ted who has been in love with Shay since high school, but she never gave him the time of day because of a minor issue she never liked to talk about. They also secretly invited Charlie to meet them there to surprise Shain and continue their scheme. Of course all poor Charles thinks that this trip is, an innocent friends get together and so they thought.

Ted offered to pick them all up and drive the 2 hours to the beach outside the city. Shain was offered to sit up front by Shay while her, Aaron and Johnny sat in back seat and discussed their plans "quietly". The drive was going smoothly with Ted telling Shain about med-school and how excited he is to take this short break. Meanwhile the three in the back were having an intense karaoke battle, singing A thousand miles by Vanessa Carlton. After an hour and a half past Shain started getting annoyed by the load screaming from the back so she muted the music which instigated a riot from the three self-proclaimed vocalists. 10 minutes away from the Beach and now Johnny sat in the front passenger seat singing Diamonds by Sam Smith. While Shain furiously looked out the window from the back seat after all hell broke loss and Johnny lunged to the front seat and swatted at Shain for ruining his moment. Which almost made Ted crash the car, trying to stop the fight. While Shay and Aaron encouraged Johnny and yelled "Bitch, that's what you get."

Arriving at the beach the gang started to step out of the car to stretch their legs before unpacking. Shain opened the car door first and felt the brush of cold air wash over her body, which sent shivers all over her. She quickly shut the door closed "what the hell, its freezing" Shay acting surprised "Oh my god, it says on the weather app that today is the last hot day before fall." As she walked out. " what weather app are you looking at? I knew there was something fishy about this trip." Aaron loving the weather, as she opened her sister's door "Shain we came all this way lets just enjoy the trip and set up our stuff". Shain hesitantly agreed and they all started to take things out of the car when a familiar car parked beside them. Shay ran to the driver as he stepped out of his car and dragged him towards Shain. "Surprise! guess who's here?" Shain looked up unfazed and said " oh, hey Charlie". Shay offended." What? Why aren't you surprised to see the love of your life?" Charlie confused "yeah, I texted her I didn't know this was a surprise." Shays mood suddenly changed " You texted her?" She said excitedly while covering her smile with her long fake nails and she started calling out to Johnny and Aaron " Guys Charlie and Shain text each other!"

while setting everything up Johnny was walking towards the water he said "someone get that ice box I need to make my margarita soon" "I'll get it" Shain said as she was about to pick up the heavy ice box but Charlie came from behind her and takes it away swiftly with one hand "Got it" Charlie said. Shain looked annoyed for a second but then mediately smiled and thanked him as he walked away from her.

After they all helped getting everything out of the car except Johnny who was drinking his alcoholic beverage, Shain went up to their car to close the trunk. She reached up tiptoeing to reach the bottom when a hand reached from behind her and did it instead. She turned around annoyed knowing damn well who it was and glared up at Charlie. " what are you doing" Charlie looking at her amused " what? "

" are you deliberately trying to annoy me"

Charlie now confused crossing his arms. "Your revenge plan was to act like we like each other."

She rested her hand on her hip as she said "Yeah. Not by pissing me off"

"This is how I treat people I like Shain. By helping them out." The two kept bickering until Ted walked up to the car to lend a hand but accidentally startled both of them. "Demit Ted." Shain said. "Sorry, I just wanted to make sure we got everything out" Ted said as he locked his car and walked back to where the rest were. Charlie sighed in relief "Thank god it was only Ted who heard us" "Only Ted ? Sweetie he worships the ground Shay walks on. He's probably one of her minions. We need to be more careful."
