Chapter 8

The story was cut short because the pair were done with their ice cream and milkshakes. On the ride back home Nathen asked "so what happened next?"

Lost in her own train of thought Aaron responded "what?"

Confused by her answer Nathen began "what do you mean what? the story"

Getting back to her senses Aaron replied "oh ya Back to the story..."

Anyway, Shay was going to pick me up, so my friends arrived 30 minutes before that. She was late as usual. I told my parents I was at Mike's house. He told his parents that he was at my house, and it worked out fine. Eventually Shay arrived with some guy.

Nathen cuts in shocked "was he her date!!". Then Aaron responded "he was her fake date. She went out with him to make the girl he liked jealous. Which worked."

Anyways, back to my story. When we arrived Shay went in and made her way to the emergency exit. We were on the other side. She let us in discretely. We snuck in and set everything in place. The plan was that Shain was supposed to trip on a wire and Charley just had to catch her mid-fall. It was supposed to be romantic and they were gonna fall in love as they gaze into each other's eyes. If the plan went smoothly which it didn't.

Charley was by the punch with his friends most likely trying not to get caught while they were trying to spike it. The only problem was that Charley saw Mike; who is by they way his brother; and walked over to him instead of catching Shain. So.... She fell on the food and his friends laughed. But no one really saw, because the music was loud the place was crowded and everybody was busy. Shain's dress got dirty. She ran out crying. She thought that Charlie's friends did that to her because they were drunk and laughing loudly. To this day she has no idea. Shay and I took an oath never to tell her and never to bring it up ever again. Especially since we couldn't settle on whose fault it was.

Not sure of what to think, Nathen then started "that's quit a story. I didn't know Shain liked him, she seemed like she hated his guts"

Aaron not paying attention to what he said "so, who's fault is it?"

Confused Nathen replied "what do you mean?"

Explaining herself Aaron began again "you're the only one that was not involved and knows about what happened. So tell me who's fault is it?"

After a minute of thinking Nathen finally replied "no one"

Aaron confused "what! Come on you can say it's me if you want to, but be honest"

Nathen started again "well I can say it's Shay because it's her idea but I can also say it's you because you brought mike with you. But in the end it's no one's. You didn't intend for it to go sideways. So, it's no one's fault."

Aaron smirking "you always know what to say"

Nathen also smirking "well now I'm speechless"

They arrived at Aaron's house and Nathen walked her to the door and suddenly kissed her on the cheek and walked back to his car. It all happened so fast that Aaron was left in a state of shock and excitement. "well that was pathetic" said a voice coming from the side of the house. Aaron startled and looked at the man standing in front of here now and punched his arm. "Johnny! You scared the shit out of me!" Johnny walking past her while dragging a bag behind him. "I mean that boy could have at least kissed you on the lips like a man should." Aaron annoyed "my love life is none of your business" Johnny replied to her sarcastically "tell that to the girl that called me yesterday asking for advice. Now open the door I'm sleeping over since Shay kicked me out for the night because I chose not to take her bullshit anymore."
