"You're the worst!" I smiled, hitting and teasing Davey. He laughed back amused. Our fingers were laced together as we were walking home one nite from a bar. We had been dating for a while, and honestly I've never been happier. We had hit a low point in our conversation and we were walking in silence for a little bit. I was looking out at the beautiful, haunting streets of Manhattan. The dirty atmosphere, the constant noise of trash blowing in the wind, the occasional rhythm of feet walking on the other side of the street.
"Have I ever told you how beautiful you look when the darkness veils over your smile?" Davey said, smiling and murmuring in to my ear.
"Davey," I paused- "T-that was beautiful," I blushed.
He stopped walking and looked at me. I was confused at first, unsure of what he was doing before he continued to talk.
"I was going to wait to give this to you on our year anniversary of us dating but I can't wait any longer," he said. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a small little leather notebook with a crimson ribbon in between the pages. He then pulled out a small pen and flipped through the pages. I glanced up at his face, where he was biting his lip as he began to scribble something down on a page and smiled knowingly at his work. He stuck the crimson ribbon on the page he just wrote on before closing the book and handing it to me.
"What is it?"
"Read it, when you get home, or when you feel blue, or whenever you want." Davey said, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand and looking at the floor. "All these things made me think of you."
I opened the book reading the first date-. 08/27, the day we met. There were a few sentences jotted down that I decided not to look at now.
I looked at Davey with the most sincere smile I could give him at four in the morning.
"I love you," I said giving him a kiss on the cheek before starting back up our walking to go home and cuddle.

I had been reading the book that Davey had given me over the past few weeks. It was a book full of two, three, four lined poems he had written around once a week, comparing me and my personality to different things. Some were delicate and kind and beautiful and some were rigid and fierce and powerful. And the way he strung the words together made my heart soar.
Today was the first day in a few weeks I would get to spend some quality time with David and I had honestly never been more excited. I decided to meet him in the second back alleyway to Tibby's, the one no one knew about. I had sat in the corner, head leaning back and staring into space with the poetry book in hand.
I saw David's silhouette appear at the front of the alleyway- broad shoulders, curly hair, detailed fingers and small feet. He looked beautiful and fearless in the darkness and I couldn't have asked for more.
"David, these poems are- are beautiful. They left me so speechless and I'm so beyond-" I started, standing up walking towards him.
He walked towards me, putting his hands on my shoulder, interrupting me by saying, "So you like it? Well that's good I was worry you wouldn't."
And by that time I had taken his face and cupped it in my hands so I could bring my lips to his. They were soft and icy cold, as always, that gracefully and skillfully took my breath with every kiss. We stood there for a good few minutes, enjoying each others company and the beauty and sync our lips had along with the entangled mess of affection and happiness we showed with it (my hands dangling in his knotted curls, his hands wrapped around my back and slowly making their way to the small of my back.)
Soon I broke away and couldn't help but laugh at him. He smiled, and kissed my cheek regardless before murmuring in my ear, "I love you."
I looked at him before smiling and turning to say, "I love you too." before leaving to get my shift in before nightfall, the time where darkness is a veil and Davey Jacobs becomes a poet for his true love.
