Back on Dark Valley...

Hiccup paced back and forth. "Not only do we not know how to make the Stones work, we don't know what the Dimension Bender wants to do with them."

Everly sighed. "I was born with Emma's powers and Cam came to me when I was young. He told me he was going to use me when I came of age, but he never said what for. My parents tried to take my powers with the Lightning Stone and break it so that my powers would just be gone and Cam could never use them. But he showed up just as we were about to. He turned me into a Night Fury as punishment, but we lost the stone. Cam couldn't find it either. He looked for a while and then came back and........killed my father." She took a deep breath.

"Emma said you were the Night Fury that killed her parents," Hiccup said gently, "I don't understand. You killed your own mother and step-father? Why?"

Tears brimmed Everly's eyes. "Cam made me..."

Years ago...

Everly was now sixteen years old. She had gotten used to living as a dragon, a Night Fury, none the less, being driven out of anywhere she went that humans also inhabited. But she wanted to stay close to her mother and little brother, as well as toddler half-sister Emma and step-father Crimson. When she could, she'd sneak up to the house to watch her family talk, or eat dinner, or play games.

One night, her parents were just outside on the porch, talking amongst themselves when The Dimension-Bender appeared in front of them. Everly watched from nearby in terror, holding her breath. Finally forcing her feet to move, she raced to her family's side. She placed herself between her mother and Camber.

::Leave them alone!:: she screamed, though being in dragon form, it only came out as a deep growl.

Cam smiles. "You're all here. Good. I thought you'd all be quite interested in what I found," he said, holding up the Lightning Stone.

The teenager's eyes widened, petrified of what he would make her do with it.

"Leave our family be," Margaret demanded bravely.

Crimson moved in front of her in a protective stance. "Please, sir, we don't want any trouble."

Cam smiled coolly. "Would you look at that, respect. I like you," he said to Crimson. "It's a shame I'm about to have you all killed. Other than the Tempest, of course. She's my new secret weapon."

::No!:: Everly screamed.

"What's that, Everly? Have something to say? Go ahead," Cam taunted, waving a hand over her and allowing her to take human form.

She breathed heavily, looking down at herself for a moment where she sat on the ground before glaring up at Cam. "I will do as you say, but you will not touch them. Spare my family and I'll never even think to defy you."

Cam's smile widened. "That's the beauty of it, Sweetheart. You couldn't defy me if you wanted. If you don't already know that, perhaps I need to prove it to you. Kill them all. Shoot your family to death." He commanded, holding up the stone.

He waved a hand over her again, returning her to her Night Fury form.

Crimson and Margaret exchanged worried looks. The moonlight caught Everly's scales as she transformed and the couple gasped, grasping each other's hands.

They burst through the front door, trembling with fear. "Blaze! Emma! My babies!" the worried mother cried, her brown hair skarkling with flecks of light of the fireplace, utter fear evident in her pale blue eyes.
