EDITED
It's been a month now since I met Yuri. In that time all I've learned about him is that his birthday is in November and his family runs a hot springs, which I thought was pretty cool. However, although it's not much, I really am very happy that the shell of the boy I first met a little over a month ago is finally starting to wear away and I'm finally starting to catch glimpses of what is beneath.
Today I have History as my first class. Fortunately, after the first lesson the teacher let me move back to my old seat.
When I walk in Yuri is already sitting at the back, surprisingly, he looks up from his book to greet me and a cheeky grin spreads itself on his face. Could he actually be happy to see me? Suddenly I start to feel that same feeling from before, my face heats up, I lose all rational thought, and I stare...at him...at his eyes...
All of a sudden the teacher rushes into the room. She mustn't have seen me because the next thing I know we are both on the floor and books are scattered everywhere. The whole room erupts into laughter and I feel my face growing hotter as I kneel down to help retrieve the strewn books. Once I'm finished I hand the grumpy teacher the pile and murmur an apology.
"Fine," She sighed, waving her hand, "Just get to your seat."
"Sorry." I apologised again as I began to work my way towards the back of the room.
As I sat down next to Yuri and I could feel his beautiful chocolate eyes still on me, laced with concern, "Victor, are you alright? It just you seem to be spacing like that a lot lately."
"Yes I'm sorry just...umm...thought I saw something," I say, lying to him. I never used to space out like this, but I have a feeling I know what the cause is; It never happens when I'm on my own, its always when I'm with Yuri or if think about him, so that's it...there is nothing else...no one else it could possibly be. The only question is whether or not to act on what I know in my heart.
I smile at him and instead of turning away like he would have a couple of weeks ago he returns the smile and I swear I see a tint of pink on his cheeks.
"Yuri," I ask shyly "would you like to maybe go out and do something fun after school?"
"Umm..." he turns away slightly, a pained look on his face. I look at him my eyes pleading and eventually he gives in and says yes. We arrange to meet by the school gate at 3:30 pm, I know it's not a date, but it's a start.
Yuri POV
As I start to make my way out of the school and towards the gates, I am suddenly stopped by a hand on my shoulder, I turn thinking its Victor but am instead greeted by a fist in my face.
I plummet to the ground, my glasses flying two or three meters away. I can't see without them so I attempt to push myself on to my hands and knees to search for them, however this time a foot strikes and hits me right in my gut.
The air is forced from my lungs and I slump to the floor a wheezing mess, trying desperately to push myself up from the floor and defend myself but every time I try I'm hit again, and again, and again until my vision starts to blur and when I cough blood splutters from my mouth, painting the light paving red.
That's when I see a silhouette above me, whoever it is they stand between me and my attackers, I see the bullies throw a punch and it collides with his face. He stumbles a little although doesn't fall down, the bully then goes for another punch but this time is too slow and the silhouette grabs his fist, he twists the arm around and pins it against the other's back threatening to break it if he doesn't leave.
Then nothing.
A.N. Its slightly shorter but will update soon
