The seer watched from far as the carts full of Warriors started filling the grounds. She noticed that they were the experienced ones who would be performing as the security of the village for the upcoming nights. After all, the newly recruited ones were meant to be in the function tonight according to the King's plan.
When she had heard it from the two soldiers talking to each other, she was glad that the King was smart enough to organize it on the full moon two nights later.
While the Warriors started lining up and standing at their places assigned by the one supervising Warrior, one Warrior on the first cart that had arrived stood up on it to tower the crowd that had started to form. In the middle of their colony near the well, he nodded as people stopped doing their tasks and watched him removing his helmet.
He brought out the scroll from his leather bag and rolled it down, jerking it open straight. His eyes roaming around on each familiar face that they had recruited this year and had gone to the war. He could see the fathers and mothers.
When he was satisfied that most of the people had arrived to listen to him, he flared his nostrils to be ready for the loud announcement.
"To all the residents of this village, I, King of Walderstone, with all my heart invites you all to the great grand function organised at my castle of Walderstone, the night of full moon, on the occasion of honouring my deserving Lords and Warriors who took part in planning the War and executing it, consequently, leading to our greatest victory. All their families are invited. Every single child, adult and elder is welcomed at the function. I will be grateful if you all come and encourage your honoured Warriors and newly recruited soldiers. Let us have the feast for the victory and more others to come-"
The crowd started roaring in cheers and hooting, men whistling while Samara shook her head with a smile. Violet giggled beside her staring at the soldier who was trying not to smile at the excited crowd.
He showed his palm for them to get silenced and continued, "I am aware of the happenings of the village and thus for my dear citizens, I provide you all safest path and protection by my most trusted Warriors. Your King is soon to be dealing with the cause for such happenings but the functions for honouring our trusted ones shall not be delayed. Let us celebrate the victories and for more to come."
Violet jumped in excitement, clinging to Samara who rolled her eyes. "I am so going to wear the sky color here. Don't you think the one my mother had been bugging the tailor since weeks?" She immediately gasped and covered her mouth.
"Remembering the tailor," she looked around for the woman and her desperate husband, "they are not here. Are they doing it this morning, Samara?"
Samara widened her eyes and pushed her away. "Oh! Stop it, now. We are out in the crowd for God's sake. Now, come and hand me over those clothes I had to dry before the eveni-"
She jumped up when she saw the seer smiling at her and her hand holding her forearm. Violet raised her eyebrows and looked between the ladies when the seer suddenly spoke, "Violet, dear. Why don't you go and do what Samara just said? She will be coming after you within a moment?"
Violet was bubbly for all but according to Samara, she was still the little girl who was scared of storms, and animals and seers who could roll their eyes and speak future. Her friend immediately rushed inside and now, Samara could feel shivers running down her body.
"What now?" Her voice shook while the seer laughed and stepped to the corner away from the crowd.
"Haven't you heard? How each one of the citizens is invited?" Samara nodded but was unable to get what she was saying. "The one who stays is the one in doubt, Samara."
