i fell asleep
with my hair strewn on my pillow
my right hand on my stomach
and my feet beneath the blanket
when i fell asleep, it wasnt as if
falling
     into
        darkness
                              but more of a encasement
just around your midsection
with arms wrapping tighly around
and heated hands over yours
it was feet intertwined with my own
and my head tucked under theirs
                              i remember
it was warm in this embrace
as if warding away spirits
for hours, it felt, i got lost with you
your breath on my head
and your chest lifting and lungs filling
                              oh it was wonderful
and warm
                              when i woke up
it was gone
like a cool breeze during summer
but warmer
during winter maybe
                              your arms were never there
wrapped around my midsection
your legs were never intertwined with mine
and your heated hands never covered my own
but perhaps i will see you again
during the nights
no matter how empty i will feel the day after
maybe i will sleep once more
with my hair an array on my pillow
my right hand on my stomach
and my feet beneath my blanket
and maybe i will feel you again
once more
arms and legs and head and love
being encased into slumber
