because you held everything
my heart
my home
in your hands you had the world and you crushed it
in your arms you had my dreams and you burned them
because what you had was never enough

BEFORE
wings spread, fluttering as they skim the sky
heart open, laughing and it breathed in fresh country air
everything is an option
there is nothing without hope
                              AFTER
there are no wings, because you tore them out
my heart is closed, because you ripped it open wider
it drips on the dirty pavement below
smokey, fizzy, city air hits my lungs like cigarettes
the option of choosing was an illusion
hope was nothing but a lie
