Chapter 4
A/N: I will be introducing a new character, Ro's coworker is a bit quirky but good natured. I based him on a good friend of mine.
I awoke to the sound of my alarm clock and feeling excessively hot. My new additions in my apartment had somehow found a way to wrap themselves around my head and neck, smothering me in my sleep. Their body heat surrounding my head had caused my hair to stick to my neck and turn into a sweaty grease ball. "great, now I need another shower" I grumble to myself as I pulled myself out of bed and worked my towards the bathroom, turning on the water.
After I was all clean, hair done, clothes on, I was now ready to go. Before leaving, I set up the animals in their respective kennels, promising them that I will be back as soon as possible—closing the door with a heavy heart. On my way out of the building, I was thinking of grabbing something on the way for breakfast, but thought better of it as my nervousness from yesterday came crashing back. Twisting my stomach into knots. Gulping back my fear I hop on the bus that will take me on my journey to my first day of work...let's hope for the best I think to myself as I grip the pole next to me and look out the window, as streets whip by and faceless people on their way, breathing deeply—trying to keep away the bile that keeps trying to make its way up my throat.
The bus arrives at its destination, dropping me off a block away from the building. I grip the strap to my purse around my shoulder and try to adjust my outfit out of nerves. I step off and immediately recognize my coworker (the one that sent me info on who I will be working with).
"Ah! Roselynn-shi! Nice to meet you!" He sticks out a hand for me to shake.
"It's-uh-nice to meet you too Lee-shi" I return the handshake, he gestures for us to walk towards the building. Complying to his request, we start walking side-by-side.
"Ready for your first day?" He was a bit shorter than me, but his question seemed bigger than life. I choke as I try to answer.
"Good question...Guess we will see" I try to joke, but my fears were evident.
"Aye girl, you will do fine! Don't worry this job is fun and working with the idols is great, wait till you meet the boys!" He waves away my concerns and leads me into the building—still talking a mile a minute, going on about this new musical he was dying to see, I think it was something called Hamilton... we entered an elevator and headed up. Lee was an interesting little fellow, although I should never bring up his height or call him little fellow out loud, for I had a feeling that if I did—he might get just a little upset. So instead, I just smiled and laughed along with his quirkiness. The further the elevator rose, the worse my nerves became. Come on Rose, you've done this work before, you have trained for this, you are prepared. I start an internal mantra to calm myself. Fiddling with my purse strap and looking at the ground as I wait till we reach our destination.
Ding...
The doors open and everything was quiet. We arrived onto what seemed to be a never-ending hallway. Lee starts to lead me down the hall and every now and then we would pass by a door. Each step I take, my heartbeat grew louder in sound, becoming almost deafening.
Boom...Boom....Boom...Boom
We arrive at a read colored door with the sign reading to come in quietly when in session. My heartbeat was beating so fast, and all I can hear is a rushing sound. Lee cracks open the door and music comes pouring out, a song was playing that sounded familiar but I couldn't place it. It sounded sad and the moment in reached my ears, I felt tugging from my chest—pulling taught, dragging me into the room behind Lee as we enter. That was when the voice began, a familiar voice that I've heard recently. Shock starts spreading as I look at him...
"I still can't believe it, everything felt like a dream..." Taehyung... Another familiar guy takes over the next verse, the song was beautiful and as I watch, I see seven guys in total were performing an accompanying dance that was dazzling to watch. Disbelief, shock, and fear course through me as I stare at him. Lee started to clap while I stood at his side, still frozen. The clapping grabbed everyone's attention, causing them to turn and look at us. The face I have been watching, finally turns their eyes towards me. The look in them saying what cannot be said, instead I just look away as Lee clears his voice, all eyes are now on him except Taes', his were still watching me.
"Hello everyone! I would like to introduce your new publicist! She is working alongside me as we prepare for your new album. Roselynn, please introduce yourself!" Lee pushes me forward, now all eyes were on me, putting me into the center of attention. I look at the wall behind them and smile, trying to look professional despite the emotions still coursing through me.
"Hello, nice to meet you. My name is Roselynn Parker, but if you would like. Please do call me Rose for short" I smile my professional smile.
