The Mating Rights

Chapter 10

Jesse's POV

   I glance at my mate sitting in my arms. She has fallen asleep. Her hands were between her thighs and her cheek squished up against my chest. She looked like an angel sent directly from heaven and the Moon Goddess knows I needed her. 

   I had been sitting there letting the beauty in front of me get her much needed rest. At the same time I have been ignoring request from pack members that reached out through the mind link to ask who she was. A few presumptuous pack members asked if Taya was going to be the new Luna. I watched her nap for about an hour. She just looked so peaceful, I hadn't had the heart to wake her up to meet the rest of the pack. 

   "Taya, babygirl, can you get up for me", I say shaking her arm a little.

   "Mmm, what?", she groggily rubs her eyes. "Why?"

   "Come on", I say pulling her up into a siting position. 

   Taya turns her head to look around the room, "come where"?

   "Baby, it's time to meet the pack members. There is no way they are letting you leave this room without meeting them. Thanks to Max's huge mouth", I say sort of grumpily.

   "Oh geez, I probably look a mess. I don't wanna meet them just yet. I'm not my best post nap", she complains.

   I growl, "hey, don't you ever insult my girl. You hear me? She's perfect in every way and I don't ever want to hear you talking crap about her again."

   She smiles shyly and nods. Then gets up and looks at the huge flat screen t.v. to check out her appearance. She tries to run her hands through her curly hair but it gets a little stuck so she pulls it up into a bun. Emphasizing her long beautiful neck. 

   I walk up behind her and kiss the place where her neck meets her collarbone. "You know one day I will mark you here and it will be the most beautiful thing that ever happens in my life".

   She stares at me through the dark t.v. screen with so much emotion in her eyes. She turns around in my arms and I kiss her lightly on her forehead. I have a feeling that our kiss yesterday was her first and I don't want to kiss her again until she initiates or asks me to. Hopefully it won't be too long. 

    I take her hand, "are you ready"?

   "Ready as I'll ever be", she replies. 

   I lead her into the living room where about 30 of my pack members are waiting. This is only a very small part of the pack. 

   She stands beside me and holds my hand. This is very abnormal for my pack to see. Don't get me wrong I have been with women before, plenty actually but I have never held a girls hand. Especially in the presence of my pack members. 

   Before I get a chance to introduce her Taya clears her throat, "hi everybody. It's nice to meet you all. My name is Taya Samson. I'm sorry you all waited so long to meet me. I was napping" she smiles sheepishly at the end. 

   When I tell you I have never been more proud of anyone in my life. She completely shocked me with that one. 

   My beta Max and his mate Tawny approach her first. Max offers his hand to shake, "hello, my name is Max and I'm Alpha Jesse's beta, second in command". 

  She smiles then her smile turns weird, "you're the one who put the funny gas in me to knock me out".

   Tawny slaps Max, oops. I guess she didn't know. "What, you chloroformed her Max", Tawny whisper yells at him. 

   "Yeah you chloroformed me Max", my beautiful mate says with her hands crossed over her chest. Max sends me a pleading look and rubs his arm where Tawny hit him.

   I laugh inwardly, "Ladies I asked Max to get Taya here by any means necessary and Taya honey, you're a bit of a fighter".

   "Damn, right I am. I'm not gonna let some stranger grab me up", she argues. 

   "Watch your mouth please", I say. "I know that baby. I just don't want you wrongfully upset at Max", I explain. 

   "Yeah yeah, okay. Well hi Max, nice to meet you" she says curtly with her hands still crossed over her chest.

   Tawny comes over and gives Taya a hug, "Hiiii. It's so nice to meet the new Luna. I'm so excited Jesse has finally found you. Please let me know if you need anything".

   Taya hugs her back and says thank you politely. Tawny and Max go on their way and the rest of the pack takes turns talking and meeting Taya. I stay slightly behind her playing with the little curls at the nape of her neck. When it's finally over we say our goodbyes. I pick her up and carry her towards the elevator. 

   "I'm gonna get so big if you keep carrying me everywhere", Taya says yawning. "Your pack seems small for how much territory you have".

   "That isn't even a fraction of my pack. Those were just a few of the members that live here in this house", I reply quiet for a second then say, "You surprised me today, you acted just how a Luna should".

   I take her to our room. She seems tired which is ridiculous because she had a nap about four or five hours ago. I don't judge though because she has been through so much in such a short amount of time. I go back downstairs to grab a water bottle and when I return she's asleep.
