Taya's POV
The fight is happening soon and I feel sick to my stomach. I'm dying at the thought of killing someone. It's horrible and horrific and I wouldn't do it if I had another choice. Jesse has taken me to the fight's location one last time to scan the area both in my wolf and human form.
My wolf and I have become one and I am so deeply in love with her. She helps me heal, she helps me train, and she's going to help me in this fight and I am so grateful to her. She was worth every ounce of pain I went through that night. My wolf is really just a part of me, not like a second voice in my head, more like I'm talking to myself. It's strange, I thought it would be like a whole new person in my head but it's not like that at all.
Once we finish committing the land to memory Jesse comes over to me.
"I need this one last kiss", he tells me before taking me off of my feet a little bit and kissing the breath from my body.
"Thank you Jesse", I tell him before walking over to the edge of the fighting land.
Jesse is walking with me. He apparently has to be tied down with wolfs bane around the steel wolfs bane infused cuffs. If not, he could go crazy and attack everyone in sight if I were to get severely hurt or worse killed.
Usually the Alpha would go over the rules with the two fighters but since the Alpha is one of the mates of the fighter, Max has to do it. The Alpha still has to give permission for the fight to begin though.
Once Jesse is secured by wrist and ankles against a steel pole, Jasmine is brought to the grounds. She is in cuffs and she still looks sickly thin. Two warriors take the cuffs off her and step backwards. She cracks her knuckles and flexes her wrists.
Most of the pack is gathered around to watch. Children are not allowed to so there are a few adults missing that need to watch kids. Aside from them everyone else is here.
"This is a mating challenge which is a fight to the death. Jasmine Valentine challenged Taya Samson for the mating rights to Alpha Jesse Cave. Since this is a fight to the death, shall one of you choose to submit the other must still kill you. You may fight in human form or wolf form", Max's booming voice shouts.
Jasmine looks at me and smiles sadly, "you honestly aren't too bad of a person. I'm sorry for this".
"Once the fight has begun no one is allowed to interfere until the heart has been pulled from the losers body indicating a complete death", Max finishes. He looks to Jesse nodding the okay. I look at Jesse and he's staring at me chewing his bottom lip.

I love you too beautiful girl, he says back.
"The fight shall commence. Babygirl, Miss Valentine, ready?", we both nod at Jesse.
Jesse takes in a huge breath and then, "Begin".
Jesse's POV
Taya and Jasmine are circling each other and it looks like a normal sparing match until Taya's foot aims right for Jasmine's face, connecting with a loud smack. Jasmine stumbles back and composes herself quickly, surprised.
"So you have been training", she says to Taya.
"I really wish we wouldn't have had to do this Jasmine", she tells her. Jasmine looks almost sad for a second but covers it up.
Jasmine grabs Taya's arm and punches her in the shoulder, dislocating it. Taya groans in pain and holds her arm. I search her mind and use our mate bond to take away her pain. It's painful but worth it once I see Taya shake her arm out. Her eyes dart to me and suddenly I'm cut off from her mind.
"Fuck, Taya don't do this", I shout to her.
She mouths 'I'm sorry' and then ignores me. I'm freaking out now. I was hoping that I could give her double the endurance with my strength helping her out a little bit but she has cut me off.
Taya attacks and lands a few punches on Jasmine. Jasmine falls to her butt and rolls out of the way before Taya can get on top of her.
"Okay, I'm sorry but I'm done playing games with you child", Jasmine shouts.
Jasmine starts shifting into her wolf. She is brown and medium sized but strong, though her muscle has definitely decreased and she is more on the lean side since the food restriction.
Taya shifts into her beautiful white and black wolf. The audience has gasped. Most of them were not aware that their Luna had gone through the change successfully let alone that she is a white wolf. Jasmine is shocked and I can tell. I'm searching Jasmine's mind through the pack link. She is surprised but not as surprised as she should have been. She apparently had a feeling that something was different.
Taya attacks while Jasmine is stunned. She lands a bite on Jasmine's neck and shoulder area. Jasmine yelps and is shocked out of her stunned state. She is wounded and with her lack off energy from food she is not healing nearly as quickly as she should. Taya attacks one more time ripping at the skin of her hind leg. Jasmine kicks her legs scratching Taya's face with her claws.
Jasmine backs away taking the chance steady herself. Jasmine and Taya go back and forth for a while getting little victories over each other. Back and forth, back and forth until finally Jasmine grabs Taya by the neck and holds her. She doesn't have enough strength to crush her windpipes but she is just holding her there while Taya struggles to get out of her grasp. Jasmine is going to strangle her at this rate.
My heart is pounding. "Stop", I scream but it falls on deaf ears. I'm struggling in my chains and it's fucking painful. My mate is dying and I can feel my raw wrist rubbing against the chains begging to be let free. I break loose of the chains just as Jasmine drops a lifeless Taya to the ground. I shift immediately and my wolf howls in pain from the loss of his mate. Jasmine is standing over Taya panting.
My wolf and I see red and instantly want to attack Jasmine. There are a group of warriors holding me back. Ten men to each arm are there trying to prevent me from getting to my mate. They throw a muzzle covered in wolfs bane on me and I'm enraged. My mate is dead and my pack dare to defy me? I start snapping at the men holding my legs.
Jasmine is reaching her head down to claim my beautiful angels heart when Taya lunges at Jasmines jugular. She clamps down hard with all of the power that she has and I hear an audible pop. She drops Jasmine's body to the ground and tears through the skin of her chest cavity. Taya grabs the heart and with out tearing it out completely, she pulls it out of Jasmine's body and leaves it on top of the hole she has just created.
I shift back to a human and take the wolfs bane muzzle off of my head. I run to my mate who is exhausted. She has shifted back to a human and she is panting and wincing in my arms.
"I did it, fuck it's done", she says to me crying.
"It's over baby, it's all over", I tell her clutching her naked body to mine. She cries into my chest and I hold her not saying a word as our pack cheers.
