Chapter 23

"The devil once asked me how I knew my way around the halls of hell. I told him I did not need a map for the darkness I know so well"

"We were going to drop Kia first?" Ahana exclaimed.

"How does that matter?  I have to drop both of you"

"I was telling this because she is exhausted.  Kia,  do me a favour and stay at home tomorrow. Take a leave from work.  You've  been working  for hours now! "  Ahana said concern evident in her voice.

"Yess,  I will.  I'm  way too tired! " I said pinching my head with my fingers to reduce the headache.

Aarav and me said goodbye to Ahana and waited till she switched on the lights of her apartment.

"You can come and sit in front you know? "  Aarav said looking at me through rear view mirror.

"It's  okay. I'm  fine here."

"Stop being such a sleepyhead and sit in front! "  Aarav said more like ordered.  I was too tired to argue.  Instead,  I stamped on all his seats in the process of moving my ass from back to front.

I smirked at him and he threw a glare in my direction.

"How are the cuts? " he asked suddenly.

"Cuts.. Umm..good?" I said gulping.
He gave me a hard stare and took my hand. He rolled up my sleeves and looked at my healing cuts.

"They're  healing!" he said with a small smile on his face. 

"Thankyou! " I smiled at him gratefully.

"For what? "

"For not telling anyone about  the cuts!  The girls would have gone all James Bond on me! "

He just shrugged looked infront.

"Are we waiting for winter to come? " I asked smirking.

"What? " he had a small frown on his face which made him more cute.

Fangirling?  Are we?
My subconscious taunted.

I ignored it gave Aarav a 'duh' look.

"Oh my god!  You don't  know!  Game of thrones?  Nedd Stark? "

He gave me a blank expression 

"You've  turned into a boring old man Aarav!" I said rolling my eyes.

"No wonder you prefer Evan over me!"  he said in a monotonous tone and started driving.

"Aarav.... I.. I.. " I was at a loss of words when he said that.  I mean what am I supposed to react to that.

"You have a girlfriend! " I blurted out.

"I don't! " He said looking in front.

"What?!" I snapped my head in his direction.

"Nitasha and me broke up! " He whispered.

My mouth was hanging open at the guy sitting next to me.  They broke up?  Why?  I mean they were so happy together. 

'Stop acting like an angel.  I know you're  happy after hearing that'
My subconscious was taunted me again.

"W-Why" I managed to sputter.

"It wasn't working and I have my eyes on someone else now.  I guess she already knew that!  But we're  still friends! " he shrugged as if it was nothing.

"Aarav,  you like someone else that's  why you break a girl's heart?  What the hell?  You leave the old person and go after someone new.  What a playboy!" I was beyond angry.  I have to admit I was happy that they broke up but he broke her heart and left her for someone else.  What a fucking asshole!

I looked outside the window as the atmosphere in the car tensed up.
He didn't  say anything after that which made everything more awkward.  After I don't know how long, the car came to a halt. 
I picked my bag from the backseat and got out of the car.
Without saying or even looking at him, I started walking towards my building.

I don't  know why I was furious.  I know how it felt when I saw him with Nitasha and she had to go through  the same thing made my blood boil.  No girl deserves this type of heartache. 

A grip around my wrist made me come to a halt.  Aarav turned me around and pushed me roughly against the wall.   We were inches away, our foreheads were touching each other.  His brown eyes were staring into my black ones with soo much intensity that I had to look away.

"What are you doing to me, Kia? " He whispered, his warm breath fanning my face.  A shiver ran down my spine as soon as I heard his deep voice and his breath tingling my face.

"What did I do? " I barely whispered loosing my confidence.

"You make me loose my control yet keep me in check at the same time. You annoy the shit out of me but your smile immediately lights up my mood.  You make me angry when you do stuff like walking out on me but your eyes, when I look into them, my anger fades away.  I'm  a mess Kia,  but you settle the chaos in me! "

I was speechless after hearing that. 

"Nitasha came in my life when I needed a friend,  I don't even know why I dated her.  Maybe to distract myself from you.  When you were gone, I was shattered and I needed a distraction that's when I found her.  We hit it off immediately and the next thing I knew,  we were dating.  We never really had a deep connection or anything just two friends hanging out under the tag of relationship. "

"Then you came.  When Ahana had called me to tell that she saw you I was with Nitasha that time.  I was soo fucking happy Kia.  I left her then and there and immediately came to the hospital. When I broke up with her,  you know what she said? "

He looked straight into my eyes and said, "Get her before it's  too late! "

I was trying  my best to not cry in front of him but it was way too difficult. Those words,  that look,  the closeness, everything  was too much to absorb.

"I never stopped loving you Kia! I fucking love you.  And seeing you with that Asshole makes me want to rip his head off!"

I stood there frozen in my place.  No! No!  No!  This can't  happen.  This can't happen.  Tears were streaming down my face as he said those words.  The words I had been dying to here since a long time.  But this time too I had to push him away. 

"Don't  cry love!  Please say something! " he whispered wiping away my tears.

I have to be strong.  History can't  repeat itself.  I can't  do the same mistake again. 

I took a deep breath and looked at him straight  into his beautiful brown orbs. If I look into his eyes and say, he will believe me and that's  what I did.

"It's  too late Aarav!  We're over!" 
I said pushing him away and running inside my building.
