Chapter 24

I was interrupted by a ear piercing scream. It sounded really familiar, almost like I knew her.

Sofia!

I run after her, yelling. "Sofia," I scream. I turn around, and she is behind me. "It's ok," she says. She points up to a bird. I grab my sword and attack it. "Thank goodness your ok," I say throwing my arms around her. Then, another scream comes. It sounded like a girl scream. It is Samamtha. I stand still, unable to move. Even though I knew it wasn't real, I was shocked. A giant force hit my back, sending me to the ground. Niall leaps over me and runs. I slowly get up and grab Sofia. We both run after Niall. He was really fast, but soon slowed down a little. Me and Sofia sprint and grab both of his arms. "Shhh it's ok," I say calming him down. "No it's not, Samantha's in trouble," he yells at us. I shake my head and look for the bird. Finally I see it, perched on a tree. It opened his mouth for another scream, but Niall took it down with a knife right in time. "Niall," Samantha screams behind us. Niall crys and runs to Samantha. He starts to cry as Samantha pets his head. "Shh, it's ok Niall, I'm safe," she says. So this is the Capitols new way to torture us. Another scream comes, one after the other. Haley runs for Louie, Joci runs for me, me and Sofia cry for dad, until it all stops. We killed them all. "We have to win the rebellion," I yell. Joci shakes her head. "I'm going home," she says. She starts to run, until she disappeared out of sight.

We all walk to the Presidents mansion slowly. We were tired of running. Samantha carried Niall while he rests his head on her shoulder. Haley was dragging along. It seemed like she was going to fall. Sofia rode on dad's shoulders as I did my best. Rocky was gone and Dad was taken. I try and manage the long walk ahead. After a few minutes (which seemed like a few hours) we arrived. It was a huge, white mansion blocked by peacekeepers. I look at the others, who were also expressionless. We all stand there doing nothing until finally, Mags speaks up. "We should just attack," Mags says. "Are you insane," I yell. We couldn't attack. They would kill us in seconds. "We should just vote," Sofia says. I thought that idea was just terrible, but Haley already was casting her vote. "I vote yes, Louie is in there and for him, any risk is good," Haley says. "No," Zayn yells, "That would make the rebellion more dangerous." "Yes," Samantha says, "They killed our Ivy." Niall grabs her and pulls her in, hugging her. "No," he says,"Samantha could die and I want to do everything I can in my power to protect her. If we don't, there is a better chance of living," Dad says, "So yes." Everyone else voted yes so we had to attack.
