Chidubem's POV

The day went by slowly, I completed all my house chores and I was seriously craving Mallam Musa's suya. He makes the best suya(roasted meat with spices) in the whole of my estate.
I'm one thousand percentage sure about this. I can proudly beat my hand on my chest and say so. The guy's the real MVP. I could smell the roasting ram meat from here, it was just laziness that prevented me from going his kiosk.

After we finished watching General house, NEPA decided to play football with light. The fluorescent bulbs fluctuating from dim to really bright every few minutes. Biko if these people are not ready they should kukuma take their light and put it on their anus. After like two hours they brought back the light in a normal current.

I missed the girls, Funmi with her savagery and Hannah with her shyness and sweetness. I wonder why Hannah didn't drop by, it's been the ritual for some weeks now. No call or text. I tried to call her but the line was busy. Maybe she went with her mum to her bakery. She talked about going there a few days ago. But then again she could just be stalking that pizza boy.

I don't get what is so hard in speaking to a boy with most girls. See him and say 'H-I' not so complicated.

Those were the highlights of my day. I only changed my pervious pyjamas into a lilac nightgown besides me toying around with the candy crush app on my phone

Mum had still to come down yet. My heart was beating fervently. I wondered what she was going to say. I was contemplating if I should still tell her about it.

Then I heard a knock on the door. That was weird I wasn't told that one was coming to our house. Curiosity got the better of me and I crept towards the door.

"Who's there?"

A deep voice responded."The owner of the house!"

Eh? Excuse me?

"Sorry, who?"

"Your father, Chidubem!" I had the voice exclaimed.

I was so afraid of what mummy would think if I asked her that I forgot that is how my father usually enters his house.

"Oh oh sorry Sir." I hurriedly unlocked the door."Good evening Sir."

"Ahn Chidubem you have forgot your father's normal entrance?" Daddy asked laughing.

"No that you were in port Harcourt I was afraid now. What if those area boys learnt it and came to say it here." I defended myself woefully.

"Dubem, and the security guards at the estate would not have beaten them to stupor." Daddy laughed again loosing his red tie from his neck. "Where's your sister and your mum?"

"I don't know oh. But where is your suitcase?" I asked peeping over his shoulder.

"I forgot it on the verandah I paid the taxi driver off." He moved to the sitting room and settled down, looking for the dstv remote to tune the channel to his all time favourite station CNN. "Help me get it."

"Okay daddy." I walked out to the verandah, the chilling sipping through the light material of my nightgown making goosebumps rise on my arms, I never was a fan of cold weather. I got sick way too fast to enjoy it. That was why the air conditioner in my room was always set to a steady 25°c to avoid mishaps.

The huge black and gray suitcase sat on the beginning of the staircase. How in God's name am I going to lift this thing?

I started dragging it with the leather strip making very little progress before I noticed the metal handle winking at me, taunting me in the dim light of the overhead bulb. Groaning I wheeled the suitcase to the warm toastiness of the living room.
