Serenity's P.O.V

It had been several weeks since the party and that rather uncomfortable confrontation with Melanie (that I never told Donovan about). I was currently sitting in the library, gazing out the window while I drank my hot coco. It was getting cold outside and I couldn't be happier. I set down my mug on the side table, looking about at the cheesy romance I was reading. I sighed at the irony of the protagonist choosing the bad boy over the quiet band boy. I would've chosen the quiet band boy, but then I remembered that, in a way, I too had chosen the bad boy. Just as I finished the thought, a pair of lips met my cheek, tingles spreading throughout my body and I knew it was my mate.

"Hey there," I greeted, closing my book to look at him.

"Whatcha reading, my love?"

"Just some cheesy romance novel," I shrugged.

"Ah. Your favorite." I chuckled and patted his cheek lightly.

"What've you been up to today?"

"Just alpha paperwork and I have a few papers for you to sign."

"Lovely," I sighed, "How many?"

"About 50 of them."

I groaned and got up, stretching before taking the warm mug of coco. "Well, I better get to it."

He stood up and hugged me, taking in my scent. "I love you, Serenity," he said suddenly.

"I-I love you too. Donovan, I feel like something bad is about to happen."

"Me too, baby." As if on cue, a howl rang out and I jumped in fright. "F*cking hell! Rouges! Listen to me Serenity. You need to go down to the safe room-do you remember where that is?"

"I-uh-yes!"

"Hurry!"

"Are you coming?"

"Baby, I can't, I'm sorry." He ran with me through the hallway where he stopped to say goodbye.

"Donovan, please, don't leave me." Tears streamed down my face. What if he got hurt or worse...died? *He's the alpha, Seri, he has to fight* Nadi said, whimpering.

"I have to go..I love you." He kissed me while I held his arm in a death grip.

"Promise me you'll come back," I pleaded.

"I promise, my Luna." We shared one more kiss before he turned and ran away, shifting into his wolf. I ran down the hall, feeling my heart pounding through my eardrums. I opened the secret door in the hall and climbed in to the tight space. Each room fit two people, no one else was in here and no one else came. I don't know how long I stayed there and cried, hearing the echoes of screams and howls, but it seemed to go on forever...just like it did in my old pack.

At last, the door was ripped open and Donovan's worried eyes found mine. He took me in his arms and kissed all over my face as I cried. I didn't know if they were tears of joy that he was alright or sorrow at the loss of members. I could feel the pack bond tear with every member that was slaughtered. "Serenity," he sighed into me. I touched the long cut down his temple and whimpered, kissing it. He was hurt. "I'm fine...but..."

"What is it?"

"Beatrice...Beatrice is dead."

~{***}~

My heart sank into the ground with Beatrice's casket as well as many others. So much death drained our pack today. I clutched on to Donovan's arm for silent support that he gave me as I approached the podium to speak. I felt their eyes look upon me...they expected me to comfort them in their time of trouble-they lost people dear to them too. I took a deep breath and looked at all their faces and into each person's eyes.

"Death is such a strange and..painful thing. When I was sixteen, my pack was also attacked by rouges like now. We were attacked without warning just like this and, oh goddess, the stench of death just clung to the air and when I was taken away I was dragged right past my parents' bodies. I'm not saying that I've had it worse than any of you, but I do know that we're all lucky to be alive. I will miss each of the missing members' faces that smiled at me every single day and I'll miss the long, torturous shopping trips with Beatrice," a wail came from Tracy's lips and Bianca tried her best to comfort her sister, to no avail. "The Moon Goddess will surly lead them all to the realm beyond the sun. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers, thank you for your service to this pack." I stepped down and reached for Donovan's hand, enter twining our fingers together.

"You did great," he whispered. I just nodded and watched as each pack member walked away slowly...all except Tracy who laid down at four graves, wailing uncontrollably. I took in a deep breath and looked up at Bianca, who stood behind the headstones with her eyes full of sorrow. I bent down and rubbed her back in a soothing manner.

"I'm so sorry, Tracy," I said to her. Her cries ceased as she turned to me with hatred in her eyes.

"Get away from me! Leave! She's dead because of you!" She pushed me away and leaned on the foot stone of her eldest sister. "She couldn't find the door," Tracy muttered, "She couldn't find the door." I looked at each stone and identified her parents, James and Nellie, she was leaning on Beatrice's stone, but the last one made my face pale and bile rise up in my throat.

Bianca Moser

1999-2011

I looked up at Bianca and her face was ashen. I looked at her and she stared back at me. "You weren't supposed to know," she whispered. I placed my hand on my stomach as black dots appeared in my vision. I felt my body start to sway and I was vaguely aware of Donovan calling my name before darkness surrounded me.

I wanted to update again today since I felt it has been a long time since I updated more than once a week. This chapter gave me the feelz so much, loves!

I also personally find it hilarious how yesterday (10.31.17) everyone was all "BLOOD! MURDER! VIOLENCE!" and today (11.1.17) they're "Give thanks. Gobble gobble" 😂
