1 1/2 Years after Battle of Yavin

Leia rubbed her temples. The moving of the Rebellion's base to Hoth took a lot out of her. While she hated it, over the last year she'd become the heart of the Rebellion. Everyone who was recruited heard of the bravery of Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and Han Solo. The three of them were legends. But Leia sure didn't feel like a legend.

When the debriefing ended, she hurried to her room, head down. Everyone expected her to be smiling; she spread hope and excitement just with her presence. No one allowed her to be worried, have concerns, or appear human at all. Luke was the only one she could talk to. She'd tried talking to Han at first, but with his arrogance he acted like there was nothing to be worried about, causing Leia to storm away in frustration. She didn't understand him.

He'd been acting strange lately, though, and their conversations always took an awkward turn. For whatever reason, his normal snark, which he called charm, seemed to be lacking. Leia wasn't quite sure why, though.

Lost in her own world, Leia ran straight into someone. She scowled as she looked right up and saw Han.

He smirked. "Watch where you're going, your Highness."

"Don't you have somewhere to be, Commander?" Leia said shortly.

He crossed his arms as he gazed down at her. "You seem eager to get rid of me. Got something to hide, sweetheart?"

"I -" Leia sighed. "No."

He smiled at her, which was strange in of itself. It wasn't a smirk like he normally wore, but it wasn't quite an expression of happiness like a smile should be. "If you're sure. See you around."

He nodded and walked away,  leaving Leia with a strange feeling. She made her way back to her room where she was able to relax for a couple hours before a knock came on her door.  Luke entered and paced back and forth while rubbing his neck.

"Are you okay, Luke?" Leia asked with a raised eyebrow.

He sighed and sat beside her on her bed. "So I've noticed something, but I'm not quite sure if you have. And I just wanted to bring it to your attention. And I promise I don't mean this as an insult, but you're a female and I know they react differently to things than guys do and I just want to make sure you're not going to be upset."

Leia laughed. "I won't get mad. What is it?"

Luke took a deep breath. "Have you noticed you've lost weight?" Leia raised an eyebrow, and Luke hurried to continue. "Sorry that was bad. I just meant, your face is a lot thinner than when I met you."

"I'm pretty sure that's a compliment," Leia said, "but did you have a reason for saying it?"

"You don't look eighteen anymore!" Luke blurted out.

Leia raised her eyebrows. "Oh.." Her eyes widened. "Oh."

"And..." Luke said slowly. "Han's aged too."

Leia reared back. "What?" She laughed. "You think Han's supposed to be my soulmate? How could he be my soulmate when all he does is argue with me? There are plenty of other people on base who could've started aging as well."

Luke shook his head. "Trust me, I did my research before coming to you. You started aging at almost the exact same time. Other people are aging too obviously, but they all started either 3 months before you or earlier. No one's started after you two."

Leia shook her head. Han Solo was supposed to be her soul mate. Han Solo, the smuggler, the scoundrel, the person with a mountain of debt to Jabba. And he was supposed to be with her, a princess. Leia almost laughed at the irony of it all. What a pair they'd make.
