Trailer Predictions

So I had a dream that I saw the Episode IX trailer, and I can't stop thinking about it. I thought it maybe had some cool ideas, so I decided to write it down to share with you guys. It's a little tricky taking a trailer and putting it into writing, though, so bear with me.

Dialogue with italics is a voice over. The dialogue has nothing to do with the scene.

Bold italics are words that would appear on the screen in big block text.

The scenes change in-between each voice over or block text. I hope that makes sense!

Rey pushes through the crowded hallways of the new Resistance base. Everyone is talking. With the combination of people, droids, and ships taking off a little ways away, the noise is unbearable. She reaches her room and slams the door behind her. She rests her forehead against the door. The noise from the hall fades away, and the sound focuses on her breathing. Another person's breath can be heard behind her.

"Rey."

She turns around, a smile already forming on her lips. "Ben."

Ben: The First Order is corrupt.

Stormtroopers rush into a village in search of a valuable item. Kylo Ren follows behind them. He wears no mask and his crackling lightsaber is out. Despite the heavy armor, the stormtroopers are silent as they move. They halt, raising their weapons when they hear a noise, suspecting Resistance fighters.

Kylo raises a hand. "Wait." He strides forwards into the alleyway where his men are aiming. A young girl, no older than eight, cowers in fear. He offers a hand to her which she hesitantly takes. He escorts away from the soldiers, hurrying her to safety.

Hux sneers as the girl runs away, and Kylo can sense the confusion in his men as they look to one another for explanation of his mercy.

Rey: The Resistance is blind.

The Resistance battles down a horde of stormtroopers. Poe and Finn battle in X-wings against Tie fighters. On the ground, Rey slashes a stormtrooper with Luke's newly repaired lightsaber. She defeats her foe, and lowers her lightsaber slowly to her side as she stares at the massacre around her.

Many of the bodies are innocents killed by Resistance fighters in their hurry to battle the First Order. Rey kneels beside a injured but still breathing villager. She looks around hurriedly, but everyone is too busy fighting to notice.

Rey: I don't understand.

Rey and Poe walk side by side towards his X-wing. BB-8 rolls along beside them.

Poe: Don't understand what?

In the middle of a luscious green forest, there's a clearing. Rey and Kylo duel together, dancing around each other as they correctly anticipate the others moves. They lock blades, bringing them close together.

Rey: Why we keep fighting.

In Leia's office, Rey throws her lightsaber down on her desk and storms off without a backwards glance. Leia buries her face in her hands.

This December

Rey and Chewie work on the Falcon, repairing a damaged part. Shouting can be heard from outside. The drop what they are doing to run outside, anxious to know if there's danger. Everyone is running to the main command center of base.

Once there, Rey finds Poe in the crowd. His eyes, along with everyone else's, are trained on a hologram in the center of the room of General Hux. 

"He's projecting this to the whole galaxy," Poe says.

"...a year since our previous Supreme Leader Snoke died," Hux drones. "Recently repaired wreckage from his ship has brought new information to light."

A chill runs up Rey's spine as footage from the throne room plays for everyone to see. She kneels on the ground, tears streaking her face as she's terrified Ben will kill her. And then, just like she knows will happen, he kills Snoke instead.

Gasps filled the room. No one knew how Snoke died. No one even knew Rey was on that ship, beside Chewie that is. She notices Poe's eyes narrow next to her, but he doesn't divert his gaze from the footage as Rey and Ben fight back to back against the Praetorian guards.

She thought the footage would end there, but it doesn't. Hux edited it to skip straight to when Ben held out his hand to her. The blood drains from Rey's face as she listens to him say, "Rey, I want you to join me... Please..."

The footage goes away to be replaced by Hux again. "Kylo Ren conspired with Resistance fighters to kill the Supreme Leader. He is a traitor to the First Order, and this is cause from execution. The First Order is now..."

No one in the Resistance is listening any longer. They're all staring at Rey with wide eyes or dropped jaws. Finally, one man points to her and yells, "She's a traitor!"

"You heard him!" Another woman speaks up. "She joined Kylo Ren!"

"She's been giving him our plans this whole time!"

Everyone in the room joins in the angry yelling. The people close in on her, and she backs away slowly. She reaches for her lightsaber, but her belt has been empty for some time now, and her staff in on the Falcon. As the screaming becomes overwhelming, she turns and runs. She hears Finn and Poe yell her name, but she doesn't stop until she's on the Falcon and flying away.

Everything Changes

The Light

Poe, Finn, and Rose all wear formal attire and run through a city with marble buildings. BB-8 and R2 are tight on their heels.

The Dark

Hux screams orders to lines of stormtroopers.

The Balance

Rey and Kylo stand on a precipice, facing each other. Neither is armed.

Rey: We can end this. Together.
