Chapter 18: Scary encounter

THE BEST PART ABOUT LIVING WITH YASSEF, would probably be the fact that he leaves the house before me when we both get ready to go to work. He leaves before me of course due to his, you know, manager job. But today, being a Wednesday, I don't have to work long. I only have two hours of work and that's probably the best part about this job. Later on, I'll probably go over to Yassef's office and maybe even talk with him a little.

My plans were already well settled a sI started to get ready for the day. Two days ago was when I had that meeting with Estaban. It was also the day me and Yassef had an argument and not to mention the fact that he finally accepted me as a friend. Even though we are supposed to be way more than that, I'll accept the fact that we are friends. It's better than nothing anyways.

When it was time to put my hijab, I remembered that Estaban, the blonde creep likes to compliment my shiny pretty hijabs. I was putting on a nude coloured one then, one that was the exact same colour as my skin. And a cardigan over my shirt that was tucked into my nude coloured skirt. Instead of wearing makeup today, I decided to go simple and wear cream. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate his compliments. But the problem is the way he compliments me. I don't want to sound boastful or anything but he actually talks like he wants to do something haraam to me.

And that was definetly something to avoid. The problems with this dunya (life) is real.

Just as I grabbed my purse from my closet, I got a phone call. I ran out to get my shoes and walk outside befire answering. So without looking at the caller ID, I answered.

"Hello?" I asked as I made my way to my car.

The person's voice was muffled, "Emaan?" The voice of my bestfriend was heard. She was sniffling and mumbling on the other side of the line. Just hearing her voice, I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Hey, Aisha what's up?" I asked a bit concerned, "Are you okay?"

I opened the door to my car just as I threw all my things in there and sat in the driver's seat. She was still breathing really quickly as if everything she was going to tell me was going to be big news. But just when I turned on my car and started to drive, she began to speak more.

"You have no idea what's going on. Mohammad's mom doesn't like me." She sniffled again. Her voice was so soft but cracking at the same time. The situation didn't seem as big as I thought it'd be so I guess that's sort of a good thing.

"Okay? Why doesn't she? Weren't you and Mohammad like childhood bestfriends?" I asked confused as to why his mom would suddenly switch up on how she feels about her, "That doesn't make any sense."

"Yeah but she's staying over at our house for a bit. She doesn't like me because I gave her attitude this one time. I don't want to stay with them these couple of days. You think it's okay if I stayed over with you and Yassef?" Her favor didn't seem so hard. I mean maybe it would be terrible if Yassef didn't know until last minute but doing her this easy favor is really nothing to be honest. Plus, I always wanted to live with my bestfriend. It's like a dream of mine.

"Sure why not?" I turned into my work, "But Let me tell Yassef first. I'm positive he'll allow though."

"You really think so?"

"Yeah,"
