Chapter 19: Trying but I can't figure how
THAT ENCOUNTER WITH ESTABAN FELT LIKE JAHANAM if you ask me. Except, of course i have no idea what jahanam feels like (neither do I want to know) but one thing I know for sure is that I am definitely calling in sick for work tomorrow.
Me and Aisha got home before Yassef did. I went over to her place earlier instead of going to Yassef's workplace. I thought that after everything that happened at work between me and Estaban, me going to his workplace would put me in another encounter I would never want to be part of.
I didn't tell Aisha anything either. She still thinks everything is A-okay. She also has no clue that Yassef does not want her anywhere near our home but of course I kept that to myself too. O never gy the chance to have a sleepover with my friends back then, but now that I got my own place why not?
Aisha was talking about her life right now, continuously complaining about her mother in law. I didn't blame her I mean, she's been living side by side from her for years now. She used to love Aisha but for some reason even after she gave just shiny of attitude, her mom really hates her. I mean it's just a couple of days that she'll be with me. It's nothing to be honest, just two days.
I just read when Yassef gets back.
"Hey thanks again for letting me stay here for now." She said it like she meant it. I helped her fix the sheets and give her a clean set of everything. On top on that, so Yassef doesn't get so mad at me, I cooked some pancakes mainly for Aisha's arrival but also for Yassef so he doesn't have to make some himself. I know my pancakes would be nothing compare to his, but they are worth a try.
"Hey really no problem." I tossed the remote control of the TV to her, "There's a bunch of channels on that. Good luck trying to find your favorite show." I walked up the stairs, "O made pancakes. You want?"
"Already ate at my place. Thanks though, save me some in the morning" she pleaded. I laughed and nodded my head as I walked all the way upstairs only to see Yassef taking his coat off and shaking his head.
"Hey Yassef. How are you?" I walked where he was. Seemed to me he was acting normal nothing suspicious or anything. He dropped his bags and sniffed the air.
He frowned, "Pancakes?"
I hummed, "Yeah. Made them for you"
"What'd you do, Poison it?" He examined the pancakes with a fork and started to pick on it ad if there was some kind of deadly chemical in it. But I actually put my heart and effort on those pancakes. He really needs to atleast pretend that their good.
"No. I made them nicely" he didn't by what I was saying. He kept a straight face. I sighed, "If it makes you feel better, I used a cook book."
That's when he was okay about it, "Alrigh that's weird why would you cook for me?"
I looked away but smiled, "Why wouldn't I?"
He looked around the living room and whole he was walking around, I heard his voice whisper "Emaan is nice. . . Emaan made pancakes. . . Emaan used a cook book to make Pancakes" he he stopped dead in his tracks, "Aisha' s here isn't She?"
He's smarter than he looks, "No."
"Emaan," he had a stern voice, "I know she's here."
"She's not."
"Emaan?"
"What?"
"Lying's haram."
"She's just sleeping for two nights" I gave in, "Just two. Be nice to her she's going through a lot at home with her husband and mother in law."
