-- four months later --
Nabil sat outside St. Josef Hospital, tapping his feet patiently on the ground. It wasn't long before there came a light pat on his shoulder, and the familiar face of Erin appeared beside him.
❝Hey,❞ she grinned, to which Nabil responded with an exuberant grin of his own. ❝You're early,❞ the latter checked his wristwatch.
Erin shrugged, ❝maybe I sprinted down the stairs.❞
At that, they burst into laughter. As it slowly died down, Erin glanced at him, a hint of red staining her cheeks. ❝Thank you,❞ she uttered, ❝for everything you've done for me.❞
The Nigerian smiled; heartwarming to her as always. ❝Erin, this was all you. You believed in yourself, picked yourself up, got this job.❞
Sure, Erin thought. All you did was motivate me, remained by my side throughout, and guided me when nobody else did. He had practically changed her entire world. No biggie.
But modesty, as she had learned, was something Nabil lived strongly by. And complete with everything else about him, she couldn't deny the love for him that grew with each passing day.
❝Thank you,❞ she repeated, ❝anyway.❞
Nabil chuckled, the smile never leaving his lips. ❝So,❞ he said, ❝wanna grab some orange juice?❞
Some people are meant to come into our lives for a reason, and some people are meant to stay. For some of us, it could be the same person.
For Erin, as she gazed lovingly at the man before her, she knew beyond doubt that Nabil Bentaleb was just that person.
