Ascending (Sequel to Rock Bottom)

Chapter 12 - Keep on Reading, Kakashi

"I don't get it dattebayo! He manages to become a freaking kage yet he can't get us a room with more than one bed? Where's the logic in that?" Naruto wailed, waving his arms in the air dramatically before belly flopping on the single bed in his and Sasuke's shared hotel room.

Said ravenette only sighed and nodded in agreement. There was no reason why Orochimaru couldn't have gotten them four hotel rooms or at least rooms that were meant for more than one person. Though Sasuke couldn't say that he minded sharing a bed with Naruto.

Now if only he could get that idiot to calm down...

Sasuke calmly made his way to the bed and sat down on it. He then started blankly at Naruto for a few moments with a puzzled expression, but it was a justified confusion.

Naruto was currently sprawled out on the bed like a starfish, with his head buried under a mountain of pillows. And the muffled wails coming out of the sheets only added to the peculiarity of the situation.

When Sasuke decided enough was enough, he ripped the sheets away from Naruto's face and looked at the blonde with exasperation clearly written on his face. "You done with your scream-fest, Dobe?"

Naruto immediately shut up after hearing Sasuke's nickname for him. And if he didn't suppress it, there would have been a creepy grin plastered on his face. Despite the meaning of the name, Naruto had to admit that he missed Sasuke calling him that.

"It wasn't a scream-fest, Teme. It was an emotional...um...venting session?" Sasuke paid no mind to what Naruto had said after "Teme". Damn, it had been a while. The ex-Uchiha also fought the growing smile that was making its way onto his face.

The ravenette was snapped out of his thoughts when he saw Naruto's face morph into a cheeky grin. "But I know how to make you scream dattebayo!" Sasuke's cheeks flushed a bright red color when Naruto began advancing towards him, making the ravenette slowly scooch backward until he hit a wall. Was Naruto aware of what he just implied? And was he serious about it?

Naruto's face was inches from his own when Sasuke felt the blonde's hands trail up and down his torso. And that was when he realized what was happening.

"Dobe, what are you doing?" That was a rhetorical question, much to his (and he hated to admit it) disappointment, Naruto's touches weren't meant in an intimate way at all.

"Tickling you, Teme. Why isn't it working dattebayo!" Sasuke smirked slightly,

"Because I'm not ticklish, I thought you knew that." Actually, Naruto did know that Sasuke wasn't the least bit ticklish, but he didn't need to know that.

Naruto was about to reply but was cut off when Sasuke pushed him onto his back, and proceeded to give him the same treatment.

Unlike Sasuke, Naruto was extremely ticklish. And the blonde writhed and twisted like crazy under the ravenette, pleading for mercy in between laughs.

And this time, neither of them bothered to hide their smiles.

Meanwhile.....

Kakashi pursed his lips and turned the page of his book, trying to ignore the noises coming from the rooms next to his. He was sitting in the middle of the floor, trying to stay as far away as possible from the noises coming from all directions. On his right, there were giggles and groans, and on his left, there was obnoxious laughter.

He just wanted it to stop.

The next morning, Naruto woke up to a loud banging noise on his door. And with a yawn, he got out of bed and clasped his hand around the metal handle. He turned the handle slightly and opened the door, coming face to face with a smiling Kakashi.

"What is is dattebayo?" Naruto asked grumpily, however his sensei's cheerful expression didn't waver.

"Well good morning to you too! Today we're going to travel to all the hidden villages and warn them about an impending genocide and hopefully get their aid in its prevention!" Sakura and Gaara, who were standing behind Kakashi, nodded in confirmation.

"And we are doing this because?" A voice asked from behind Naruto, making said blonde scream and trip over his own feet, and fall. But before he could hit the floor he was roughly hoisted to his feet by Sasuke.

"The Akatsuki already attacked two hidden villages, it would be beneficial to warn the others. Besides, we need the manpower from the other villages" Kakashi explained, and hearing this, Sakura snorted.

"Translation: Orochimaru asked us to do it. " Kakashi smiled, ignoring the pinkette's comment.

"Don't worry though, we have two Otogakure ANBU coming with us!"

Naruto raised an eyebrow and turned to Sasuke, "That makes me worry even more for some reason 'ttebayo."

The blonde's statement was barely audible, but Sasuke heard it and nodded slightly in agreement.
