Travis' P.O.V
I walked to the lake while whistling, with my bag on my shoulder.
I was about to take a fishing rod and start to fish, when I realized there was something lying near the lake.
No. It was a girl. Wait could it be a mermaid!?
I went up to her and I stared at her. She didn't seem to be dead. She was wearing a blue summer dress, and she had powder blue hair and pale skin. She had legs, so I guess she was human.
Damn. She was pretty. But her hair was a mess, her dress was slightly burnt, she had no shoes and she was soaked. She must've come out from the lake. I wonder what happened to her?
I poked her cheek in an attempt to wake her up but she didn't.
I sighed and stood up to walk away, but thought about what other people may do to her.
"I really shouldn't be doing this..." I mumbled to myself as I picked her up and walked towards my camp.
Katelyn's P.O.V
I woke up with a pounding head ache, and my throat felt dry. I didn't recognize where I was, so I looked around and almost jumped back in surprise when I saw the figure sitting by the fire.
I picked up a big wood stick, and was about to attack him when he looked back and smiled at me. "Oh you're awake! I was starting to think that I had picked up a sleeping beauty." He said with a grin.
The person had white fluffy looking hair, and vibrant green eyes. He was lightly tanned, and had a wide smile.
I tried to say something but my voice cracked. He handed me a glass of water and I gladly chugged it down, not even checking to see if poison was in it. Call me stupid but I felt like I was dying.
"W-where are we?" I asked him and he looked at me confused.
"We're in Rama. The village right next to O'khasis." He said and the word O'khasis struck me.
Garroth. My mother, father and Kacey. I felt tears coming up again, but I didn't let them fall because I was in front of this... person.
"H-how long is it to O'khasis?" I asked him.
"1 day with walking and resting." He said and I smiled.
"Thank you which way?" I asked him and he pointed to the direction.
"How did I get here?" I asked him and he shrugged.
"I found u by the lake, and I couldn't just leave you there." He said and I raised an eyebrow.
"You... you didn't do anything weird?" I asked him and he shook his head.
"Irene no. I wouldn't do anything to someone who's vulnerable." He said.
"Good. Now thank you for saving me, but I gotta head over to O'khasis." I said.
"Do you want food?" He asked me and I shook my head, because I couldn't risk anymore.
"I'm fine." I said as I started to walk away and my stomach growled... super loudly might I add.
I blushed and he smirked. "Well somebody seems hungry to me." He said and I rolled my eyes.
"It's not important! Plus, I have to go to O'khasis to see a friend." I said. Garroth was the only person I could talk to now.
"O'khasis... I don't think you'd be able to go in." He said and I cocked my head to the side.
"Why?"
"The kingdom was attacked and burned down just like Phoenix Drop. Did you not hear? In both, they assume that the royal families were killed during it. Thousands of people died during the attack." He said and my legs felt weak and I collapsed to the floor.
"Are you ok!?" He asked suddenly alarmed as he came to the side.
"My friend... he... I don't think he survived that attack." I said tears coming out no matter how much I held them back.
My family was gone, and Garroth was all I had left. And even he, was now gone.
He came to my side. "Oh no don't cry! Uh what do I do when a girls crying?" He asked suddenly panicked.
"Just... leave me alone for now. I need a few minutes to myself." I said once I was calmed down.
He nodded as he stepped back and went back to the campfire. I held back any more tears and tried to calm myself down. Now was not the time to cry. No. I couldn't be wasting my time on crying.
Now was the time where I had to stay strong. To keep my head held high and live on.
But... where would I go?
I couldn't go back to Phoenix Drop now. They think I'm dead, the castle is burnt down, and many were people killed. There's nothing I can really do now. Even if I went there, what could I do?
I couldn't save the kingdom. Couldn't even save Kacey. So how was I going to rule the country to rebuild it once again?
I stood up and walked to the person and sat on the opposite log from him.
He then stood up and sat beside me. "What's your name?"
"My name is Katelyn. What's yours?" I asked him.
"Travis. It's nice to meet you." He said as he scooted over closer to me and I moved over.
It made sense that he didn't know who I was. Phoenix Drop was a small kingdom, and I haven't been out of it.
Some may have traveled to Phoenix Drop, or saw a picture of me, but it's not that many people who knew me.
Not that I was complaining.
"Are you feeling a bit better?" He asked me.
No I was not feeling better, I thought as I nodded my head. How could anyone ever feel good when they just lost everyone they had overnight?
Or so I assume.
"Did you happen to see how I got here?" I asked him and he shook his head.
"You were by the lake, wet, so I assumed that you washed up from the lake." He said and I nodded.
"Thanks... for helping me." I said as I stood up. "I'll head off now."
"Where are you going to go?" He asked me.
"I don't know." I said. What was I even going to do now?
"If you don't know, I think it'd be good to have a warm meal and a good nights rest first." He said.
"T-thanks." I said as he handed me some soup and bread.
