The meeting at Carter's Records with Mr. Carter Mason was not bad. He gave me an interview right on the spot, luckily for me, I was already dressed appropriately for the interview. My mother Joanna always told me, better safe than sorry , dress appropriately for the interview, always say please, thank you and speak in well composed complete sentences. Honestly, I did not think Mr. Mason would ask for the interview so quickly and have it run smoothly. The interview went something like this:
"Hello sir, my name is Ashten Mills-Bennett." I spoke to Mr. Mason with a bright confident smile on my lips.
"Hello, Ms. Bennett, how do you do?" He asked politely.
"I'm doing very well, and you sir?" I replied asking him the same question.
"I'm doing fine, thank you." He said replying to my question then speaking, "Why would you like to work here?"
"I would very much like to work here because I'm very musically oriented." I answered.
"What do you do on your own time?" He asked.
"I listen to music most of my time, to different bands, singers, composers, etc." I replied.
"What is your belief on the meaning behind music, or music in general?" He asked another question.
"I believe that music is as relaxing as therapy, if you find just the right genre, artist, and song I'd say your well on your way to a relaxing morning, afternoon, or evening." I replied.
"Is there any musical background in your life that makes you think you're right to work here?" He asked calmly reading off a paper on a clipboard he carried around with him.
"I know my way around Genres, and where they originated. I took Music Theory, Jazz Theory, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Concert Band, and even became a part of the Philharmonic Symphony playing Saxophone. I play multiple instruments, and have musical knowledge since I was about 10 years old." I told him explaining why I thought I deserved to have a place on his staff.
"Impressive, anything else you would like to share?" He asked raising his left brow at me as he looked up from his clipboard.
"No, sir I-" i began before I was cut off by Bonnie.
"She's a singer. A famous one at that." Bonnie said with pride in her voice.
"Bonnie." I said shaking my head, whispering to her rather loudly, loud enough for Mr. Mason to hear.
"A singer?" He asked looking at Bonnie then me.
"Yes, she is Ashten Mills, Indie Pop singer. She sang with Ed Sheeran." Bonnie said smiling, "Isn't that right Ash? You told me once that you sang with him."
"Is this true Ms. Bennett?" Mr. Mason asked with disbelief on his voice as he spoke.
"Yes, sir." I said shyly.
"Well then, if I had known that you were THE INFAMOUS ASHTEN MILLS I would have never asked you to do the interview." He said sounding ashamed that he put me through the process of what is called 'a job interview'.
"No. Sir. It's alright. I really wanted the job without the 'being famous perks'. I don't like it when people just hand me things I didn't earn on my own. If I didn't recieve the job position because of my personal position as Ashten Mills-Bennett as a regular person before, I don't want to accept the job just because I'm Ashten Mills, the singer. Now if you'll excuse me sir, I and my cousin here, will be on our way. Good Day." I said as I turned my heels, lightly grabbed Bonnies arm and headed for the door.
Mr. Mason stopped me at the door and said, "When I didn't know you were Ashten Mills, the singer, I was already more than glad to give you the job position, but seeing your modesty and how you reacted on what I said, I believe you are more than ready to work here."
I looked at Mr. Mason and spoke, "Seriously? Not just because I'm famous and whatnot?" asking.
"No m'am. I really do believe you belong here. When can you start?" Mr. Mason said with a light smile.
"Whenever you want me to start." I said eagerly.
"Splendid, you start tomorrow morning, 9 am sharp. I'll give you a set of instructions when you arrive on what you will be doing. The other employees will have already been here by 7 am. You get to come at 9 am because this is your first day, after that I'll will see what your schedule will be like." Mr. Mason said sternly.
"Thank you sir. Very much appreciated." I said giving off my infamous smile that my mother says I have.
"Have a good day, ladies." Mr. Mason said waving us off and going off into a room in the back which I presume to be the inventory room. I walked out for the store with Bonnie beside me and smiled widely.
"Gahh!!!" I shouted, "Did you see that? What just happened?"
"You got a job? I saw that. Congradulations Ash." Bonnie said smiling and pulling me in to one her infamous 'Bonnie Bennett Hugs'.
"Yes, but it would have been way better if you wouldn't have mentioned me being Ashten Mills. I wanted to earn that job my own Bon-Bon. Now I feel like I just got the job because I'm well I'm famous." I said sounding down.
"Well you earned it. How bout we go out for lunch at the Grill, Matts working tonight so he'll wait on us." Bonnie said winking at the end when she mentioned her friend Matt waiting on us.
"Bonnie! Alright, let's go." I said surprised at her comment then agreeing with her.
We've been at the Grill for a good 2 hours now. Being 2 pm, I really needed to go home and get ready for my da- movie with Niklaus. Bonnie found Caroline, and Damon at the Grill when we arrived so they've been talking for the past 2 hours while I try to work my way out of getting a call from Cal. Cal was my music producer, who worked for TROUBLE Records. His full name is Calum Montenegro. He's amazing at music producing, and over-all a really nice man. Though whenever I would write up a song a day late he would ignore me for a good 30 minutes before we would start a new recording session.
Marcy, my manager, said that Cal was growing impatient. I just told Marce that I still had 2 weeks, and that Cal needs to stop getting his panties in a twist because he can't rush me into making platinum hits. I need time to write songs and not be pressurized. Marce, of course, said that she is doing her best in holding Cal back. I kept typing away at my phone until Bonnie cleared her throat and spoke.
"Ash, what are you doing?" Bonnie asked looking at me from across the booth.
"Twitter." I said plainly.
"Are you really?" Caroline said smiling widely.
"No, I'm actually talking to Marce about trying to get Cal to calm down and that I still have a few weeks left before Corp. wants the album done." I said to Caroline.
"Who's Marce and Cal?" Damon asked in his regular mean sounding tone. I looked up from my phone and stared at them. Over the past 2 hours, I've learned alot from the 2 that sat in front of me. Caroline and Damon were both Vampires, Damon was like 300 years old, Caroline was just recently turned by a girl name Katherine who does not sound very pleasant to meet, and that they were plotting against Niklaus. Though mad as I was at the 3, I stood silent, and fiddled with my phone making it seem as if I wasn't paying attention to their conversation.
"Marce, is my Manager, her name is Marcy DeLa Rosa, and Cal is my music producer, Calum Montenegro." I explained going back to my phone.
