Chapter Five: Introductions

Madeleine

I made my way towards the Mystic Grill to meet Bonnie and her friends. I bit my lip slightly as I walked down the street, maybe Niklaus will be there, I thought to myself, since he seems to know exactly what to get. I finished unpacking the boxes yesterday after making the decision to stay in and make myself feel right at home. I had made a call earlier to my manager up in California to see if there was any way she could have my car sent over. Little did I know, she had already sent it to my old home address, waiting right across from the park for me.

The park wasn't that far from where I needed to be, it was actually on my way over, but as I walked over I couldn't help but think about the conversation I had with Niklaus the other day. I finally reached my lovely car. I saw that there was an envelope placed right under the windshield wipers. I looked the words that were written on the front of the envelope, Madeline Mills-Bennett. I slightly rolled my eyes with a smile, thank you Marcy. I shook my head playfully and took the envelope from under the wipers and opened it up reading the small written letter that had my key taped against it. I muttered the words the letter contained:

"Hello my dear, here is your car, along with the keys you left behind under my care. I took the liberty to have the car shipped out to your new place. I know you'll call me about it later, I knew you'd want some sort of transportation. I got you covered, as per usual. Anyway, I hope you've started up on some songs. We really need those by the end of the month Maddie. You know how much Cal hates to wait. Finalement, take care my dear, and stay safe.

Much Love, Marcy"

I rolled my eyes slightly, and smiled. Oh Marcy, you truly are amazing, but why must you remind me of that deadline... I loathed in silence about having to finish the songs by the end of the month. I placed the letter back in the envelope and got inside my '09 Jeep Wrangler, and inserted the key, starting the engine. I closed my eyes to briefly take in the smell of gasoline and smiled slightly. I made my way to the Mystic Grill, only about three minutes out did my phone start to ring. I leaned over and answered.

"This is Maddie, leave a message at the beep. BEEP!" I said jokingly.

I could feel her eye roll through the phone as her voice went through the speaker. "Ha. Ha. Ha. That's very funny Mads. Where are you, everyone's grilling me about meeting you and you're not here yet!"

I laughed lightly, "Alright, alright. You got me. I'm actually not far. Chill, Bon-Bon. I'll be there soon. Love you, bye."

After tossing the phone on the passenger seat beside me, I pulled up to the parking lot of the Grill. Quickly, I found a place to park. I looked up as I turned my engine off and saw Niklaus and that guy that showed up to my house, Damon, arguing at the front of the Grill.

"Are you freaking kidding me, right now." I said to myself, getting out of the car quickly, taking my phone with me and slamming the door.

"Stay away from her, Klaus." Damon growled at Niklaus, shoving him off the curb.

Niklaus tilted his head and raised a brow, "Is that a threat, mate?"

In an instant, I grabbed Damon's arm and pulled him away from Niklaus's face. "Seriously, Damon. In front of the restaurant?"

He nodded over to Niklaus and clenched his jaw, "He started it."

"Don't add to it." I replied, rolling at my eyes at how childish he was being. "Please, for the love of God. Stop provoking the person you know is stronger than you, and," I paused, looking around and slightly whispering the last part, "expose who and what you are."
