Hello, I'm Eliot Everdeen and welcome to The Crowning Gem Awards. Basically what this was, is a competition for stories so that they could be fairly judged. If entries won, they got prizes, and if they didn't, they still have the honor of being on my reading lists.
So why The Crowning Gem Awards?
Because ever since I was a little kid, I've always been obsessed with royalty. The very idea of having a royal family, of balls, of princes and princesses, I loved all of it. The most important part about royalty though, is the crowns, or at least that's what I thought as a little kid. The crowns represent everything about whatever royal family they belong too. How elaborate, how shiny, how beautiful, how big the crown was, all of that displayed the wealth and power of the person wearing it. The most important part of the crown of course, is the crowning gem. The big gem that sits front and center on the crown, the first gem that you look at.
In a way, all the stories entering into this contest will be a crown, but the winners and finalists will be gems, and the ultimate winners will be the crowning gems. This awards competition is all about finding that diamond in the rough, finding those stories that deserve to be out there and deserve all the glory. That's why I chose The Crowning Gem Awards, because I'm going to turn these stories into the belles of the ball.
