If I see any hate comments on your stories I will report the perpetrators and you should never be afraid to do the same for yourselves or others. Defend yourself against people who are discouraging you. If people are being unfairly mean, mute them, delete their comments, report them. If my comments are discouraging you, tell me, mute me, delete your conversations with me.
Criticisms should never be at the point where they are taken as hate. Even if someone had good and pure-hearted intentions with their comments, if you see it as hate it's probably a little too harsh.
Criticism should always be paired with praise, if you decide to critique someone's writing, also write about that one good thing you saw in paragraph fifty-two, or that one word you really liked in the blurb.
Sorry about the rant, but I feel like this is very important for all of you to read. The point of my contest is to help you grow, to help advertise your hard work and effort. Each and every entrant in this contest deserves to be applauded for their work, not torn down by people who don't understand what it means to have anything on this site.
