Kahi had just been the strongest I'd ever seen her, but then she fell to the ground.

"Are you okay?" I asked, worriedly.

"No, I'm fine. That form just takes a lot out of me." she replied, that was rather reassuring.

"Okay, so Kahi's fine, I'm gonna leave. You know, the humans." Maui said.

"Sure, go ahead." Maui then left. I sighed.

"'I'm doing this for the humans.' Hmm. If I had a piece of treasure for every time I've heard that."

"Well, it looks like you do. Are you okay though? Whatever that creature said looked like it took a lot out of you, mentally speaking." I really hoped she wouldn't ask about that.

"I'm okay. It doesn't matter now, does it?"

"I guess not." she said, disappointed.

"Hey, I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"For you having Maui as a friend."

"Well, I'm sorry you don't think so, but Maui's been my friend for at least half of my life!"

"Well babe, how many times has he said he was doing something for the humans and abandoned you?" She just stared at me, deeply offended.

"How...dare you...Maui...he'd never..." Before completing her sentence, she nearly collapsed and started crying. Oh no.

"You loved him, didn't you?"

"Oh, where'd you get that idea? Yes, romantically, for quite some time." I sighed again.

"Look, I'm sorry. But I've been friends with Maui for thousands of years, I just want to spare you the heartbreak of him turning out not to be, okay?" She stopped crying, and slightly smiled.

"Thank you."
