"When Allah desires good for someone, he tries him with hardships." (Bukhari)

I stared at her as I tried coming up with an answer.

"I was actually going up in my room and saw the room was a little messy. So I decided to clean it up a bit", I lied. She walked closer to me as she scanned the room. "But it looks the same as it did before", she said. I gulped. How do I run?

"Hamna what's going on?" she asked me. I shook my head. "N-Nothing. Why would you think so?" I asked pretending to be cheerful. She narrowed her eyes. "You just lied to me for a paticularly good reason. May I know the reason?" she asked in a polite yet firm voice. I looked down. I couldn't just tell her why I came here. What else could I do?

I sighed. "Zaynah, it's really nothing. I'm telling you I came here to clean the room up; I didn't lie to you", I lied again.

"Hamna, I'm not going to let you go this easy. You tell me what's going on or i'll tell everyone you were in Dylan's room", she told me. Oh snap! This was Dylan's room? Then why was Maryan's stuff lying here? If I had known this was Dylan's room, I would have never come here. Oh Allah! What have I done?

"I told yo-

"Hamna, tell me now!" she wasn't being polite anymore. I bit my lip and looked down at my hands. They were shaking and I was sweating. I looked up at Zaynah again.

"When I told you I was cleaning up, why can't you trust me?" I spoke in a firm voice. She stood still as she stared at me. "I don't need to explain anything to you", I said and walked past her. I stopped in my tracks when I heard her voice from behind.

"Why would you clean Dylan's room?" Zaynah asked. "Because I wanted to", I said without looking at her and walked up the stairs. I literally ran upstairs to avoid anymore questions or coversation. I knew Zayd wouldn't be upset if Zaynah told him but I didn't know about anybody else. I rubbed some dust off my clothes and fixed my hair before opening my room's door. Zayd was working on an assignment and so he really didn't notice my tense face. I changed my clothes and sat down next to him, watching him as he did his work. He was so concentrated he didn't feel me stare at him for good 5 minutes. After 5 minutes passed, I guess his concentration faded and spoke, his gaze still on his papers.

"What's so special about me today?" he said and I smiled as I looked away. "Do you have to look special for me to stare at you?" I said. I was suprised at how confidently I said that.

He laughed. "Niiiice", he said as he worked. I could tell he wasn't concentrating much on what I was saying but I still wanted to talk to him. I wanted to tell him about the letters. He was the only one I could share my heart tale with. I took a deep breathe and spoke very fast.

"Zayd I found something and I want to tell you about it", I said. He kept working like he didn't even hear me. I shook him. "Zayd!" I said and he looked at me.

"I heard you. What is it?" he put his pen down and looked at me.

"I found some letters in Maryan's room downstairs. I am scared now that I read them", I told him. He furrowed his eyebrows. "Why were you in her room?" he asked. I sighed.

"I just went in there because I was curious and then I found the letters. Zayd I need your hel-

"Hamna, I want you to start your college as soon as possible", he said as he opened his books again. I was confused. "Why?" I asked.

"You're always at home and you have nothing to do. That's why you think Dylan and Maryan are still after you", he said. "They're not. They left and you should move on too."
