Chapter 22: The happy group of friends.

Mike
As soon as I heard Max's voice in my head, I knew she was special. Just like El. I looked at her in awe as the sound of her voice was jn my head, I looked round to the other boys to see they had the exact same facial expression.

We were all shocked, we didn't know what to say. Not a bad shocked, the kind of shock where you yourself witness something this amazing and have to take a moment to take it all in.

Unsurprisingly, Dustin was the first to speak up.

'That...was...amazing. How did you find out how to do that. Max...what!?'

The smile returned to Max's face as she quietly replied 'El, she discovered it and told me.'

Maybe she thought we were mad or judgemental, for Max looked greatly relieved that Dustin has spoken up, not judging her, and the smile stayed on her face.

I noticed her relax a bit, and she flopped back onto the sofa next to El. They shared a shy smile and giggled a bit.

I went over to the sofa and sat myself next to El, instinctively wrapping my arm round her. She nestled her face into my neck and I felt a smile growing on my face, and my cheeks turning red as I noticed the others staring at me. They all smirked and Dustin and Lucas imitated what we were doing. I burst out laughing at the pair.

I forgot how much I needed them all. These were my best friends and I somehow managed to live without them for a long period of my life, but I plan to never ever let them go again.

Even Max I already liked. It was only in this moment that I realised I was too quick to judge her and now she's already one of us.

I promised myself then and there that I would protect both Max and Eleven, seemingly they both have telepathic or telekinesis powers. And I will look after them.

I looked round my group of friends beaming. Will and Dustin were laughing about something, Lucas and Max sat opposite eachother with wide smiles plastered on their faces, and a red tint in Max's face. I kept watching long enough to see Lucas pull Max in for a hug which Max immediately accepted.

I sniggered at the two, who obviously liked eachother but couldn't admit it.

I made a mental note to myself to try and get them together, because everyone knows that's where they belong.

I looked down at the now sleeping girl on my shoulder.

In this moment, I was truly happy, and I hadn't felt like this for a long time.

I could get used to this. Used to being one big happy group of best friends. I love these people.

And if need be, I would die for them in a second.
