Chapter 11: Home

We were almost there, not far now. My arms were beginning to ache but I obviously wasn't going to let that stop me. I trudged on until I reached the end of my road. I could feel her soft breathing tickle my neck and I smiled. It felt so good to have her back here with me, and this time I was determined to keep her safe and with me.

We reached the door of my basement and I slowly opened it, not wanting to disturb her. I decided to lay her in her fort and let her sleep for however long she needed, which was probably quite a while.

Since I had already set her down on the bed, still in my arms, I decided to just lay down with her in my arms and it wasn't long before I fell asleep with her wrapped tight in my arms, we both needed sleep.

I felt something moving in my arms as I slowly opened my eyes. I felt something tickling my face and started chucking as my eyes slowly fluttered open, revealing a beautiful face staring up at me smiling. I smiled back down at her, my arms still wrapped around her torso.

'Home.' she whispered, the smile never leaving her face.

I nodded and placed a small kiss on her forehead. I realised she was still wearing the same dress and that she should probably wash and have some cosy, warm clothes to change into.

I shook her lightly, 'El, do you want a shower or a bath, anything like that?'

I saw her eyes widen and fear formed in her eyes. Realising what I said that may have frightened her, I quickly explained that it was to clean her up and make her more comfortable.

'Can you help me shower?' she obliviously questioned, her speech slowing at the word 'shower'. This was all new for her.

I felt my face turn a light shade of red and she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, I suddenly had an idea. Nancy.

'Nancy can help you, you would need another girl to help you do that, it would be a bit strange if I were to help you.'

I could tell she was still confused, but she nodded anyway. I'm sure she'll understand when she realises what's happening. I slowly made my way out of the fort and gently grabbed her hands and helped her up. Then I remembered she was probably hungry. I looked at her.

'Are you hungry?'

She nodded eagerly and I slowly led her downstairs to the kitchen. Mum was currently out with Holly, and I would tell her when she got back. I'm sure Nancy was upstairs. I grabbed a few eggos and placed them in the toaster, we waited in a comfortable silence for them to be ready. When they were, I grabbed them and placed them on a plate. I set them down on the table and told her I would be back, she nodded, barely paying attention to me and more on the food, making me chuckle slightly.

I made my way upstairs, the smile not leaving my face for a second. I softly knocked on Nancy's door, she mumbled in response. I took this as permission to enter the bedroom. She looked up from her studying as she heard her door open. I saw a smile form on her face as she saw that I was smiling. She stood up and gave me a big hug, a beaming smile on her face.

'Are you okay?' she asked, pulling away from our embrace.

I nodded, smiling to reassure her.

'Come with me.'

I noticed her glance at her study notes, a worried expression on her face.

'Nancy, you're already insanely smart. I really need your help, come and see. Trust me, you'll be happy.'

She nodded, smiling as I took her hand in mine and we walked downstairs together.

We reached the kitchen and walked inside. When Nancy saw who was there, she instantly dropped my hand and a shocked expression took over her happy one. She slowly made her way over to Eleven, who stood up and started walking over in Nancy's direction.

They quickened the pace and Eleven jumped into Nancy's arms. I could see tears in both their eyes, they were clinging onto each other as if they never wanted to let go. It even bought a tear or two to my eyes. El's arms were tightly wrapped around Nancy's neck and Nancy's around El's waist. It was truly a beautiful moment.

'How?' Nancy managed to choke the work out, still hugging Eleven.

'It's a long story, I can explain later. But right now I need your help if thats okay Nance.'

She nodded and slowly pulled away from Eleven, taking a good look at her dirty face before quickly bringing her in for yet another embrace. I made my way over and joined in, Nancy wrapped her other arm around me and we just stayed like that for a long time.
