Chapter 9: I'm here now
Mike
I pedalled as fast as I could down the empty streets, scanning my eyes around every possible place she could be. Unfortunately, I had no luck. I wasn't going to give up. I had now covered the whole on my town and neighbourhood, still with no luck. I wasn't losing hope though, I was so determined to get to her, and I had never wanted to achieve something as much as I do now. I longed to hold her in my arms and kiss her again. She was my first love, she was my everything, and I couldn't lose her. She was close, I could feel it.
I reached the woods and with no further hesitation steered my bike towards them, weaving in and out of trees, still scanning the area. I still couldn't see her. I continued through the foggy woods, keeping my eyes wide open and not missing a spot. I hopped off my bike and started walking it around the area.
After around half an hour of just walking, I stopped dead in my tracks as I saw a foot peeking out of the largest tree in the woods. Slowly, I made my way to the foot, as I got closer and closer, my hope was rising. I recognised the colour of the dress, though it was now faded, dirty and torn. I quickened the pace and then looked down. It was her. I couldn't believe my eyes, she was here. How did she do it? I slowly knelt down beside her and realised she was asleep..I hope. I slowly started to shake her and whispered her name. I kept shaking her until her beautiful eyes started to flutter open. I felt a smile spread across my face.
'M-M-Mike..?'
I continued to smile and pulled her in for a tight hug. I couldn't stop smiling. This was the first time I had been genuinley happy in two years, I had forgotten what it felt like. It felt good. I felt her small arms tighten around my torso. I didn't want to let go, but I did. I held her shoulders and stared at all her amazing features. I stared into her stunning eyes, I was fascinated by how easily I could get lost in them. I put my hand on her cheek and she nestled into it, I could tell she was drained, but I couldn't get over how beautiful she was, despite being in the upside down for two whole years. Her hair had grown quite a lot, just reaching past her sharp jawline. I ran my hands through it. She looked up into my eyes, and started twirling her hair. She looked worried.
'Still pretty?'
I shook my head, she looked distraught and buried her face in her hands. Slowly, I pulled her hands away from her face and took them into my own.
'El, you're more than pretty. You're beautiful, stunning, the most gorgeous girl I have ever laid my eyes on.'
I saw her eyes light up and she gave me a wide smile. Remembering how exhausted she must be, I slowly leant down and picked her up bridal style.
'Let's get you home.' I said, smiling at her.
She didn't say anything, just nodded and lay her head on my shoulder. I started trekking through the woods, deciding that I would come back for my bike later. I didn't need it, El was my number one priority, and I had to get her home as soon as possible. It's all going to be okay now.
Heyyy guysss, so yeah I hope you enjoyed this, I tried my best to make their reunion as cute as possible.
