Chapter Six

I glanced a Justin. He was starting to panic.

"Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit," he kept mumbling. “We’re dead.”

I knew that he really didn't want to get into any more trouble since we were both up to our necks in shit because of last night. I also knew that he didn't want to get in any more trouble because Scooter was his manager, and Justin really didn't want to piss him off.

However, with the way the kitchen looked now- macaroni on the floor, spray cheese in my hair, chocolate sauce down Justin's face and shirt, jello on me, and a pie in parts of Justin's face- we were pretty much screwed. Portions of the different food was all over the floor and cabinets, so that certainly wasn’t going to work in our favor.

And the kicker is that we weren't even fighting! Well, kind of, but not the kind that we got in trouble for last night! It was fun-fighting, but I can guarantee that is not how Scooter is going to look at it.

We heard the door that leads into the garage open, and Scooter and Carin walked inside. They were talking to each other, but I couldn't hear exactly what they were saying because that was way down the hall.

I knew they were holding grocery bags because I could hear the faint rustle of them, which only meant that Scooter and Carin were going to come into the kitchen.

Any second now.

Shit, we were screwed.

"Hey," Justin whispered to me, effectively bring my attention to him. "Just follow my lead, okay? Maybe there's a way of getting out of this where we don't have to get in any more trouble."

I nodded, figuring out pretty easily that he wanted to fake out Carin and Scooter. Hopefully, it'll work.

They got closer to the kitchen, and I looked at Justin, wondering what he was going to do. But he didn't acknowledge me.

Carin and Scooter were right outside the kitchen now, and right before they walked in, Justin pulled me on top of him and started to tickle me.

I burst out laughing because I'm a highly sensitive, very ticklish person. Seriously, people could hover their hands over my sides or my feet and I’d start laughing.

Naturally, I tried to get away from Justin, but it was pointless because he was actually a lot stronger then he looked. He just held me in place on his lap as he poked and squeezed my sides. My laugh made Justin laugh, and from my peripheral vision, I saw Carin and Scooter standing in the kitchen entrance dumbstruck at the two of us as well as the kitchen, watching Justin and I on the floor.

When Justin 'noticed' them too, he lightened up on the tickling. Eventually it was just me- still somewhat laughing- sitting on Justin, who was also somewhat laughing still. I swear, laughing is contagious.

When neither of them said anything, I started to get nervous. My laughter came to a halt, and I looked to the ground in shame. Yeah, we were screwed.

The look on Scooter’s face scared me more than I ever thought he could. "What were y'all fighting about this time?" he growled, looking like he was going to blow a gasket. His face was bright red, and I could almost see the smoke coming out of his ears.

I looked at Justin. "Scooter, we weren't fighting. We were just having fun."

Scooter looked at Justin when I said that, and then walked away. Yes, still holding the groceries.

Carin smiled at us halfheartedly as if she knew what was coming, set her groceries down, then walked after Scooter.

Justin and I sat there on the ground for a minute, not knowing what to do.

Minutes later, Scooter came back into the kitchen, set his groceries down, and iterated sharply, "Get cleaned up and then meet me in the living room. Both of you."

Yep. We're in deep shit.
