Violets POV

I came back to school a day after, I know it was selfish to have left Leila all alone yesterday, but I swear I couldn't even get out of bed, those headaches hurt way too much. My dad was really suspicious and thought I had mono or some shit, so he forced me to go to school today.

"Sorry I left you alone yesterday," I tell Leila as we walk up to school "it's fine, it wasn't as bad as I'd thought, but I'm glad you're better." She smiles.

We walk into the halls, everyone was so calm, I thought they'd swarm me and shake me until the truth slips out.

"Why is no one sus? Wait, never mind,"

"Don't worry, I covered for you,"

"Thank you."

I reach my locker and start to pull out my textbooks for my first class, art, which I'm pretty excited for because English and Art are the only two subjects Leila and I have together.

"So, was there anything I missed out on?" I shut my locker door, fiddling with the lock pad.

I see Ethan and Grayson walk up to us, Leila looking the tiniest bit happy to see them but her smile wipes away in half a second. "Hey," Grayson waves, followed by Ethan "What do you want," Leila snaps, giving them both deep glares, I stood behind her, hiding myself from Ethan who saw me all drunk and loopy, there's no doubt he's gonna ask me about it

"Woah, chill woman! I just wanted to ask if you were okay,"

"I'm fine, can you leave?" She raises her voice. "Leila, its fine," I place my hand on her shoulder trying to stop her from causing a scene "But you guys should leave, we're fine." I tell Ethan and Grayson, giving them a reassuring smile that barely worked

"Violet, please just tell me, Leila told Gray so why can't you?"

My draw dropped, I looked over at Leila "You told him?!" I mouthed, she shook her head "yes" and I mentally face palmed myself "I have nothing to tell you," I state with confidence, hoping he'd leave us alone

"Yes you do!"

"I said I don't and that's final! Just forget you even met me!"

I strut down the hall feeling my headaches coming back but I make it to art class without collapsing.

I walk into class right on the bell, greeting my teacher with a soft smile. I pull out my paints and brushes and continue to work on an art project I was assigned last lesson.

Leila walks in with her sketchbook, taking the seat next to me as usual.

"Finally, a subject that I actually like."

I go silent for a bit, but soon put my paints and brushes down. "Why did you tell him?"

"I- I don't know, there was just something in me that said I should tell him,"

"Leila, we've only hung out with them like once!"

"I know, I'm sorry," she sloppily applies her paint onto her canvas, feeling guilt and sorrow

"Just don't tell anyone else," I sigh getting back to my artwork.

The end of school bell rings, everyone is rushing through the halls. When Leila and I finally make it out alive I spot my dads old rusty car parked in the bus bay. People can't know that's my dad and they can not see me in that ratchet ass car of his.

He honks his car causing me to flinch. I run over to his car, no one is really noticing because they're all loading onto the bus.

"Get in!" He demands. "Dad, just go around the other side," "why the fuck? No, get in now!" He gets out of his car, grabbing my hand and dragging me to the passenger side.
