Savannah's Point of View
The six year old girl listened to her mother's voice contently, as she read her new book, The Rose.
They were sitting on the love seat together in the family room. The fireplace in front of them was lit with a bright flame.
The mother smiled at her daughter and her daughter smiled back. She adored her mother, and aspired to be like her in the future.
Something outside the window nearby caught the little girl's attention. She got up off the love seat and walked towards the front door.
"Hunter?" The girl's mother called. "Where are you going?"
Hunter turned the doorknob and walked out the door. It was raining and pitch black outside the house. She scanned the forest until she spotted what had gotten her attention.
The little girl walked off the deck and out into the pouring rain. It was a young boy standing next to an oak tree.
The boy looked maybe seven or eight years old. He had tan-toned skin and pitch black hair, cut short. Hunter noticed he had something in his hand. It was a rose.
The boy held up the rose. "A rose, for you?" He said, holding it out to the girl.
The girl took it and smiled. "Thank you."
The boy smiled back at her.
I was taken back to reality when Shane opened the car door for me.
Tonight he was taking me out to the bast restaurant in town for our third date. He must really be trying to impress me because he went through the trouble of reserving a table in advance. That was sweet of him.
Once we got settled at our table, I looked around taking in the view of the restaurant.
Shane finally spoke up. "So, this is awkward but I got you something" he took something out of his pocket. It was a rose.
"A rose, for you?" He said. He reached over the table, offering it to me.
I took it and smiled at him. "Thank you" I said.
He smiled back at me.
It was amazing how he still had that same smile he had so many years ago.
Yeah, he's the boy. I'm holding the rose and yet he still doesn't realize I'm the girl?
