Lost in the Shadows
Chapter One : Wolfsbane
Scott's POV
Stiles and I drove Derek's car away from the school.
It wasn't long until we realized that a car was chasing us.
I shifted gears in Derek's car and we sped down the road even faster.
"Faster?" I questioned Stiles.
"Much faster," Stiles answered.
I drove the car faster and shifted gears.
The car was right behind us. But if I drove any faster I was going to kill us.
"Scott, I don't really think your grasping the concept of the car chase here" stiles said.
"If I drive faster I'm gonna kill us" I reminded him.
"If you don't drive faster then they are going to kill us" Stiles told me.
Sheriff Stilinski's voice chirped on the walkie-talkie Stiles had taken from his father's car.
"All Units, all units repeat suspect is on foot heading into the iron works." he alerted.
The police must have found Derek. Every since I said he was the one behind all the attacks it made the Beacon Hills police team Derek's number one problem. And now Derek was their first priority.
We drove by the iron works, Mr. Argent was trying to shoot Derek with a machine gun.
Stiles opened the door of the car and yelled "get in!" to Derek.
He jumped into the car and I sped away. The car tires squealing as I did.
"Damn it!" Derek snarled. "I had him!"
"Who?" Stiles asked quickly. "The alpha?"
"Yes! He was right in front of me and the frigin police showed up." Derek explained.
"Hey, they're just doing their jobs" Stiles said defending his dad.
"Yeah, well I have to thank one person who decided to make me the most wanted fugitive in the entire state!" Derek said.
"Can we seriously move past that?" I asked. "I made a dumbass mistake, I get it."
"Alright!" Stiles said, stopping our dialogue. "How did you find him?"
Derek shook his head. He was not going to tell us. He didn't trust us.
"Can you at least trust us?" I asked him.
"Yeah, both of us" Stiles added.
Derek scowled at Stiles.
"Or just him" Stiles said quickly. "I'll be back here."
"The last time I talked to my sister she was close to figuring things out." Derek explained. "The first was a guy named harris-"
"Our chemistry teacher?" Stiles interrupted.
"Why him?" I asked.
"I don't know yet" Derek answered.
"What's the second?" I asked.
Derek pulled a piece of paper from his pocket. "Some kind of symbol." he said showing it to me.
I remembered seeing that symbol. It was on a necklace. Allison's necklace.
"What?" Derek asked. "Have you seen this before?"
"I've seen it on a necklace." I tell him. "Allison's necklace."
I changed gears again.
*********************************************
The next morning Stiles and I discuss how to get the necklace while walking into school.
"How am I gonna get the necklace?" I ask him.
"Remind her of the good times" he suggested. "Get back on her good side."
"But she won't talk to me" I said. Remembering when she said she didn't trust me outside the school the night the alpha had tried to kill us.
"Like I said, get back on her good side" Stiles reminded. "Get the necklace."
Stiles turned and walked down the hallway to his locker.
I went to my locker to get ready for my first class. After I got all my books, the locker slammed shut, making me jump.
Jackson was standing there. "I know what you are, McCall."
"What?" I asked. Did he know I was a werewolf? What was he talking about?
"I know what you are, McCall" he repeated. "And however you came to be what you are, you're going to get it for me too." He glanced across the hallway. "Cause if you don't, I'm gonna tell her." he said grabbing my chin and making me look at Allison who was standing across the hallway.
I caught up with Stiles before my next class started.
"I think Jackson knows about me" I said to him as we walked down the hallway.
"What do you mean?" Stiles asked.
"He knows I'm a werewolf" I whisper.
"Are you sure he knows?"
"Well he implied it pretty clearly" I sighed. "This is all to much to deal with. First I get turned into a werewolf, then I go out with a girl who I can't believe would ever go out with me, and then I tell her that another werewolf in town is the one killing people but he isn't, and now I've got to deal with the fact that my cousin is coming to stay with us for who knows how long."
"Your cousin?" Stiles said. "Savannah?"
"Savannah" I nod. "You remember her, right?"
"Little Savannah?" Stiles asked.
"Well, she's not that little anymore. She's fourteen now" I tell him as we continue walking up the hallway.
Savannah's POV
I found the key to the house under the mat at the front door. Mom left this here so I could get into the house even when she went to work.
I call my Aunt Melissa Mom. I don't know why. I guess it's just because I lost my mom and I needed to fill the void or something.
I let myself inside and looked around the familiar surroundings.
The kitchen still had the dark green on the walls. There were still four chairs sitting around the kitchen table. The living room had a dark blue color on the wall. The couch was a shade lighter than the walls of the living room and the tv was directly across the room from the couch.
I walked up the stairs, taking in the familiar house. I passed Scott's room. Mom's room was at the very end of the hall. My room was across the hall from Scott's.
I reached my room and opened the door. The dark purple color was still on the walls. A double bed with a black comforter was in the far corner of the room. A dresser with a mirror on top of it was in the corner opposite of the bed. The walls were bare, the top of the dresser was bare, pretty much like the last four years of my life had been. Bare.
Hopefully that will change soon.
