On Monday Cairo had been awake since four in the morning, she'd been staring at her ceiling. Just seeing him, over and over those blood red eyes and his body, covered in tattoos. The feeling of his soft skin and the muscle right beneath it making her palms tingle. She knew something was wrong with her. She'd never spent this much time thinking about anyone, not Liam or any other boy. She tried sleeping, but he kept barging into her dreams, into her bed...she always woke up just as he was about to kiss her lips. But that didn't stop him from kissing her in other places her dreams.
And the worst was yet to come, she'd left her glasses at the party. He must've taken them off when he was putting the ice pack on her face. She had no idea if they were in Vincent Stone's house, if she could ask Jackie, or if the weird guy with the contacts took them.
Eventually the sun began to rise and some of its rays just flowed into her room through her blinds. A sigh escaped from her lips as she stood up to get ready. She washed her face, did her best to straighten her hair, dressed in her school uniform, which consisted of a white dress shirt tucked into a black and grey plaid skirt, applied perfume, and swung her backpack over her shoulder.
She took an extra minute or two out of her schedule to check herself in the mirror once again, just to make sure she looked alright, it had been ages since she walked out anywhere without wearing her glasses. They always covered some of her face which made her feel safe. Less insecure.
When she got to school Allison was waiting at the front gate which was strange, but she wasted no time in grabbing Cairo's hand and yanking her to the very back of the school building and pointing towards the furthest wall away from them. Skye was against a wall and Vincent-flipping-Stone had her there, pinned against it and was kissing her like crazy.
Cairo's mouth dropped open and she almost let out a huge "what?!" Allison yanked her back, leading her to their class, where she nodded at Cairo letting her know it was acceptable to let it out.
"When did that happen?!?" Cairo gaped.
"After you left and Skye consumed a lot more liquid courage," Allison began with an irritated tone, obviously finding the fact that Cairo had ran away from the party less than satisfactory. "You should have seen how she walked over to Vincent and pulled him to the dance floor where she honestly seduced him...I was alone the rest of the night with that! So where were you?!?"
"I felt really sick," Cairo began, not necessarily lying. "I think it might've been the beer because my stomach was in knots and it really hurt so I went home in an Uber, I threw up all night."
That part was a lie, but there was no way that Cairo was going to mention the embarrassment that she had gone through. And the fact that she couldn't stop thinking about that guy and she didn't even know his name.
"Okay, you're forgiven," Allison declared. "But never do that again. I was worried you disappeared and you weren't picking up your phone."
"Sorry," Cairo mumbled feeling horrible.
"It's okay," Allison reassured with a hug. "Where are your glasses?"
"Vincent Stone's bathroom upstairs," Cairo mumbled.
By the the middle of the day Cairo could feel the knots again and she was nervous, never having gone this long without glasses. She felt like she was squinting the entire day. She walked into one of her college level classes she shared with Skye and she always sat in the front, but today she decided to sit towards the back, avoiding being seen.
"Congratulations, Miss Storm," her teacher told her handing her some sort of permission slip. "You were accepted into the Students in College Program! You'll be attending that Bio class you wanted to take and receiving full credits for it!"
