After a good thirty minutes of me helplessly bawling my eyes out, and Phil trying to calm me down, it seems to help a bit. "It's okay.. It'll be alright.." He whispers, calming me down as he rubs my back gently.
"It hurts, Phil." I whisper, speaking out loud for the first time all night.
"What hurts?" He asks softly.
"My heart." I choke out, the crying begging again.
"I know, baby.. I'm so, so, sorry." He apologizes again. "Breathe.." I take a shaky breath, letting the room grow silent. I lean my head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat and steady breathing. "I love you, Dan.." I hear him whisper, just as my eyelids grow too heavy to keep open. Slowly, I fall into much needed sleep..
