Riley's POV.

"Kai?"

"Hey, can I come in? Or are you just going to stand there and look at me?"

How the hell did he even know what room I'm in?

"Right! Come in!"

What was he doing here? And why did he look so damn handsome. He was wearing a plain white t-shirt and black jeans with a black leather jacket. The white t-shirt stuck to his body, revealing his abs and chiseled chest in a way I had never seen on him. I took a moment to take in his appearance before I spoke.

"So is there a reason why you're here?"

"Yeah actually. You look beautiful by the way." He scratched the back of his neck nervously and then droped his hand to his back pocket.

I could have sworn I saw his cheeks turn a faint pink colour. Was I doing that to him?

"Thanks, I'm actually on.. Um.. I'm waiting for someone."

"Damon?"

I nodded my head, avoiding his eyes because I knew the effect they had on me.

"Oh," he said in a low, disappointed voice, "I'll just leave-"

"No!" I cleared my throat realising how desperate I said that, "I mean, is there something you wanted to tell me?"

"It depends, can I convince you not to go on this date?"

He was closer than I thought he was, and his eyes were locked onto mine.

Damn it! Why did you look in his eyes!

This was it! It was either him, or Damon. His eyes were filled with longing and desperation. They looked lost, like they had been lost for a long time. But they held a lot of hope. Hope that they would find their way back to the happiness they deserved.

There was another knock at the door and I closed my eyes, knowing for sure, that it was Damon this time.

"Are you going to answer that?" He moved closer, his eyes fixed on my lips and then moved back to my eyes. "Or are you going to stay here and let me take care of you?"

Open the door.

Open the door.

Open the door.

"I'm sorry Kai, but-"

He looked down and scoffed. He already knew what I had to say, it was too painful to get it out.

"Yeah yeah, I'll even open the door for you princess"

Ouch.

I watched him and Damon talk for a while, but, I wasn't listening to what they were saying. All I could think about was whether Kai was really mad at me or not.

"Ready to go?"

"Huh?"

"I asked if you were ready to go?"

I didn't even notice Kai leave. I had completely zoned out and I really confused about what I wanted. I looked at Damon who was watching me with concern on his face.

No going back now Rils.

Yeah," I sighed. "I guess I am!"

***

"You look really great by the way!" Damon complemented me as we drove.

I still wasn't excited about the night. Especially because I felt as if I had hurt Kai. I didn't know why I cared so much, but it was killing me just thinking that he could be mad at me.
