As much as I wanted to forget him.. I couldn't..

As much as I didn't want to think about the "what if"'s and the "why"'s, I thought about them

I needed to know why.. I needed to know what happened..

Why was he kissing me in a minute and the next he's leaving?.. only to return kicking me out

Why did he kick me out?..

A bark wakes me out of my thoughts.. Batman was on the bed staring at me and wiggling his tail... he wantd to play

I smiled - I'm too tired

He put his head down on top of his paws and I got sad by his gesture.. maybe he understood that I wasn't feeling so good.. maybe he could see it in my face..

I sighed and looked around for a while seeing the ball not too far from my bed.. I tried to reach it, falling onto the ground in the process

Batman got excited just when my hands touched the green miniature tennis ball and started barking louder

I threw the ball and he ran like a crazy mad dog, making me laugh at how unclassy he was

We repeated it for a while, the both of us forgetting about the world for a while.. or at least I did..

Guess dogs are really your best friends

Since it wasn't a chilly day out in New York today, I decided to take him on a walk.. I grabbed his improvised leash and off we went

We went to Madison Square Garden where we spent most of our day.. me and Batman just mostly walked around together

I even bought some frozen yogurt for myself.. but I couldn't stand the feel that I was being watched

I felt someone was watching me..

My mind instantly ran off to Nick.. maybe he was spying on me..

At night, when we were coming back home, I saw two guys appear from a street looking really suspect..

I turned the corner and saw another guy staring at me, wearing dark clothes just like the other one

I looked around realizing they were coming after me so I instantly went through a tiny alley between two houses with Batman in my hands

They started shouting "She's running away!" So I started running faster

I turned on a bigger road and kept running.. now some people started starting at me since I literally had 3 to 4 guys running after me, and it wasn't for a good reason

I kept running as fast as I could until I felt someone tugging my arm and pulling me to a alley.. I started fighting, dropping Batman in the process which made him scream in agony

The guy leaned me against the wall and covered my mouth with his hand.. his wide eyes piercing through my skull

- Stay quiet Demetria! - he mumbled as he pressed his body against mine so I would stay put

The guys kept running saying they lost me but I couldn't look away towards them.. my eyes were glued on him and only him..

I kept breathing heavily through my nose, trying to calm myself down

Nick eventually looked back at me once the guys disappeared and we stared at each other for a split second.. for a moment I felt like something ignited.. he licked his lips as he stepped away

- What the fuck was this? Who are these people? Why are they chasing me? Was it someone we killed? What is happening?

Nick shrugged - I don't know.. but if I were you I would peace out.. by the way, you're welcome I saved your ass

Nick turned around but I wasn't going to let him go this easily

- What the fuck do you think you're doing? - I shouted at him

Nick looked back at me and shook his head - No.. you don't need to reward me Demi.. it's fine, I must go now - he sarcastically told me as he turned back around

- You're such an asshole!

- Because I saved your ass?

- No! Because you are! - I shouted.. Nick started walking away from me so I ran and pushed him as hard as I could making him stumble

- What the fuck was that for? - He shouted at me

- Fucking tell me what's going on! What happened? Why don't you wanna do anything? Why did you cut me out of your life?! - I shouted as my eyes started watering

Nick sighed and ran his hand through his buzz cut - Don't you fucking dare come up to me now with those tears. - Nick told me the harshest way he could, breaking my heart - We were not together, we were not committed, I did what I wanted to do.. don't blame me for the feelings you catched.. Besides, you were the one leaving in the first place

- And what? This was a way to get revenge? "Oh, I'm just gonna fuck her a few times, get her attached and then get bored and leave" - I mocked him, now the tears running down my cheeks

- It wasn't like that..

- Then what was it?! - I shouted making him gulp

I felt Batman run and hide behind my legs, probably shaking from the fall he just experienced.. The question kept floating above our heads.. the tension killing me softly

Once I realized he didn't have an answer for me, I looked down at Batman, picked him up and walked past Nick

- Rot in hell, asshole

I nudged his shoulder with my hard and furiously walked away from the alley

It ached so much.. my heart was pounding furiously as I ran as fast as I could..

I stopped down the road and sat on a step crying.. Batman ran and laid down next to me as I cried

I could not believe how naïve I was.. I hate this.. I hate feeling things for him.. I hate loving him..

Fuck him..
