The bright Canadian sunshine flooded through the blinds, making me yawn awake from my deep slumber.

I blinked very fast, and then I sat upright in bed once I realised I didn't recognise my surroundings.

Where the hell was I?

Slowly, the images of the previous night inside 'Kiss Land' began to cloud my brain.

Oh, yes. I almost got sexually assaulted last night.

I looked to the right of the bed to see if Abel was still there. Empty space. I was filled with a little bit of disappointment, but it's nothing personal; Abel's a busy man, I get that.

I looked to my left, on top of one of Abel's drawers. Placed neatly was my handbag. 'One of the girls must have brought it over this morning', I thought to myself. I reached inside my white faux skin bag, and retrieved my HTC from inside of my bag. I clicked my phone on. 26 new, unread messages. I read a few:

From: Muhsinah
To: Madeleine

Where are you, girl? Been looking for you everywhere...
:L

From: Hawk
To: Madeleine

Yo, where are you and Abel @? Are you letting him give you the D??? (;

From: Kelly
To: Madeleine

I'll answer those later.

I got out from underneath the covers, and I stood up, yawning. I walked inside the ensuite, and found an unused toothbrush still inside its packet in one of the draws. After I brushed my teeth, I hopped into the shower for a quick, 15 minute shower.

As the lukewarm water cascaded alongside my body, it felt like the vigorous clenches of the man at the club yesterday were being washed away. The flow of water made me free from him, and I honestly felt a million times better. I could finally think clearly. I could finally concentrate properly. My mind was at peace.

Once I went back into the bedroom, I applied some of Abel's lotion, and got a clean pair of navy shorts and a white, baggy t-shirt from his wardrobe. I hope he didn't mind. My hair was frizzy because it was still damp, and my face was completely bare. I was going to have to learn to love myself for my natural self.

Afterwards, I went to the living room, only to be greeted by Abel, himself. So he was actually here, all along.

"Yo." Abel said to me, grinning at me from his couch.

He still had on his black top and grey trousers from last night, and he was spiralled across the couch in a cat-like position. He honestly looked cute and childish, and I felt like tickling his stomach.

But I knew my boundaries.

"Hey." I replied, producing a small, timid wave.

Looking around, I was taken aback from his living area. I didn't see it last night, because everything was so dark. But I could make it out perfectly, now.

The room wasn't too large. Three coffee sofas sat in a small circle, blending perfectly with the magnolia walls. A flat screen TV sat in the middle. To the corner of the living room, was the humble home of Oxy, the red panda. Adjacent to the living room was the well positioned kitchen area.

"Get something to eat," Abel said distractedly, pointing towards the kitchen, "then, make yourself confortable.

I pondered on the spot for a bit, and then I walked to the tiny kitchen area. I opened the coal black fridge for something to eat. Beer. Beer. Beer. Some milk. I closed the fridge door, again.

I opened one of the cupboards, and I found a packet of cereal. I poured some of it into a nearby bowl, and then I got the milk from the fridge, and poured that into the bowl, too. I got a spoon from another draw, and then I sat on one of the couches, opposite to Abel.

On the television, I saw that Abel was watching the Toronto News. Great; how boring. I sat absentmindedly watching the news segment about global warming and eating the cereal, until the flashing orange 'BREAKING NEWS' caught my eyes:

"A man who resides in the Toronto area named QuayShawne Biggums, or known on the streets as 'Shawnee' has just been arrested, it has been confirmed." A female news reporter said.

I could not believe what happened next. A motherfucking mugshot of the mystery man from the club yesterday appeared on the television.

The same stone cold hazel eyes. Greasy, spotty face. Mean smirk. It was unmistakable. Abel and I  looked at each other in dumbfounded silence.

"For house robberies, arson and a string of other petty crimes, Biggums, aged 21, has been part of 'Canada's 50 Most Wanted' for the past three years now," the news reporter continued, "Biggums was found bloody and unconscious in the restroom of the club 'Kiss Land' yesterday, which means another criminal is yet to be found. Detail of how he ended up unconscious is yet to be released. Back to other daytime news..."

A small smile slowly crept its way on my face. He was locked up, and I didn't have to worry, anymore. And if he was once one of Canada's most sought-for criminal, he was going to be behind bars for a very long time.

I looked towards Abel, only to see that he was grinning, and his right hand was held up in the air.

"Air high-five." said Abel, looking at my hands expectantly.

"Air high-five." I mimicked, lifting up my left hand to the air.

In less than 24 hours, Abel and I managed to leave a criminal unconscious, lead him to the police who have been looking for the past three years, get away from our self produced 'crime scene', and arrive to Abel's apartment without looking like suspects ourselves.

Abel and I; we make quite a good team, actually.
