A/N: Get hyped with the chapter name...
As I leapt heroically towards Clara, he caught me in mid-air, his hands enclosed around my waist. "Flipping put me down! You don't know how two faced she is-" I struggled against him as the crowd and crew laughed at me. Water formed in the corners of my eyes as he carried me off down the bridge.
This was pathetic. He couldn't just do that. It hurt that everyone was sitting back and mocking me.
He hushed me, throwing me over his shoulder in a fireman lift. I sure as hell wasn't to go down without a fight. I'm pretty certain that he had a few sore marks on his back and chest from where my feet and arms flailed around. His fault.
I wasn't going to have it. "You asshole! Why did you stop me? Do you know what she did? I spent like three hours on that and so much effort-"
A teardrop finally fell as I clicked that I'd have to do it all again. Effort was the one thing that you couldn't buy. I didn't really understand where all that came from. "I'm pretty sure that I was polite to her at the start, right? It wasn't my fault that she was continuously digging at me," I thought out loud.
River sat down on the grass beside me, leaning against a tree. "Nah, it's not your fault, it's mine."
Dafuq? What was he talking about? How did he fit into this? "She's always been like that."
I furrowed my eyebrows. Always? "How long have you know her for?"
He snorted. "We went out for like a month when we were seventeen. Let's just say it didn't end well."I pulled at the grass, my eyebrows raised. "You went out with Clara?" I said slowly, trying to get my head around him. He smiled, his brown eyes locking with mine.
"We went to the same high school."
"Isn't that awkward now that she's working with you in your video as the love of your life?" I could only imagine how strange it would feel.
Hah, served him right.
River looked at towards the sky, before looking back at me and winking. "Not really. She's just one of the hundred, babe."
I laughed at how open he was. At least he wasn't as back stabbing as her. That probably explained why she intentionally poured tea in my papers.
I furrowed my eyebrows at him, thinking. "Do- I don't know if I'm being rude by asking you this but do you not care at all about who you go out with?"
