His mind was dark and empty and the air felt cold. Where was he? He lifted his head and looked the room around him. He was still in the ship on the seat but everything was still. He stepped up to his feet and looked around him. He walked over to the door and pressed the release button. The door to the room slid open and the panel disappeared into the wall. He looked to the right and seen an open door into a station. The cockpit dashboard was in front of him and another room laid to the left. The door remained open so he walked toward the opening. The warm humid of the station rolled onto his face. He stood in the door way as he looked around the loading bay. Pilots and workmen flooded the grounds below the bay. "Come! Over here!" A familiar voice echoed through the large hanger. He noticed the man as before below the bay waving upwards. Kylen walked down the side of the ship to find a ladder leading down. He ran to the ladder and grabbed the frame and slid down like he did in the ship. Kylen reached the bottom and continued his way to the man. He approached the man and looked up I him. "Welcome to HomeFront. You'll be safe here." The man looked at Kylen and smiled. "What's your name sir?" Kylen asked in curiosity. The man looked down at him and smiled at him. He knelt down to his level and answered, "My name is Shak." Kylen smiled at him. "Come you'll live in my district." He told him as he lead the way.
Shak lead Kylen down a long corridor which suddenly stopped at a large hole. A stone path with metal railings hugged the walls of the hole. A body of water sat at the bottom while the sky soared above. "What is this?" Kylen asked in awe. "This is my district. District 8, HomeFront; Population: 2,284,893,000. This is the only district 8 in all the Bounds." Shak's voice echoed. He looked up at Shak and scratched his head. "Come on I'll explain at my cove." Shak said as he pointed to one of the gated holes.
Shak shook the door and opened it roughly. Entering inside Kylen seen a dug out ledge with a cushion laid over it and an even deeper ledge dug out with a mattress. A window lied across from the gated door over looking a massive ocean. To the right of the window was a door leading into the kitchen and dining room. Shak sat down in the the cushioned ledge and looked at Kylen. "Where to start?" He asked as he scratched his beard. "There are ten Bounds: Fandor, Galium, Casani City, Sentair, Oswell, rhok, zemalia, HomeFront, Xoc, and Shorewelk. All in order and as we are the eighth Bound. The world was separated because people couldn't live with other kinds of people. They would always start wars , fights, and always causing problems. The government couldn't handle it and separated them." Shak stood up and moved to the window. "After my family was gone I was on my own. I moved to this large cylinder and made this my home. As more people lost their home they moved here and as I grew up I started taking responsibility. I dug out rooms, made a ship, started a crew and now I remain here. I was so full of energy and so motivated when I was young but now I grow slow in my old age." Kylen looked at him as Shak turned around. Its almost evening and we have to wake up early so hit the hay. I'll get you a blanket and pillow for the couch." Shak said as he walked to a self holding blankets and towels. He threw a blanket to Kylen and grabbed a pillow from his bed. Kylen moved toward the concave in the wall and laid his stuff on the cushion. Kylen looked at him and smiled, "Good night Shak and thank you." He made his bed on the cushion and crawled in. His mind dozed off as his eyes fell heavily.
